Sarah Connor Chronicles:
Daddy was a steel-driving man: spoilers for all two seasons, Cameron-centric, this investigates something I've been wondering about from s1 onwards - does Cameron self-identify as female because of the body she's been given, or is it a choice, or is gender irrelevant to a Terminator? How would being in John Henry's/Cromartie's, i.e. male body affect her relationship with John and her self-perception, or wouldn't it? As a bonus, this story also offers a refreshingly un-victim-like take on Allison from Palmdale.
Star Trek:
beatrice_otter has a post with the TOS scenes featuring Uhura and Spock movie newbies might have seen mentioned in a few reviews. My favourite is the second one, from the episode Charlie X, not least because Spock is totally game for what Uhura does there, plays along (literally) and even smiles a little. (So much for the myth that he never ever smiles in the show except when finding Kirk alive.)
Speaking of Uhura, here's a thoughtful post on her presentation in the new film I very much agree with. In the comments, some genius suggests that in future films, the roles of Number One and Christine Chapel, should they grace the screen, should be played by Jennifer Garner. (Who then also gets to voice the computer, given the loss of our First Lady of Star Trek last year.) Which I think is inspired. Not only can I see JJ Abrams pulling that one off, but Ms. Garner even looks a little like Majel. And has experience donning wigs and playing doubles.*g*
