Watched more Firefly, cursed Fox again. Then I watched two Crusade episodes; another show that never made it to a full season. You know, I liked that one, too. Not as much as Firefly, but I liked it. Especially Max, JMS' nod to Avon, and the Gideon-Lochley relationship (count me among the minority who didn't bear any grudges against Elizabeth Lochley for not being Ivanova and found her interesting instead in B5's final season). Why is it that these shows got the axe, and something like Andromeda goes on and on?

Back to one of the best things of being a fan: namely, the corruption of others. [livejournal.com profile] andrastewhite, bless her, has written the world's first example of Centauri/Centauri slash, after yours truly broke the barrier for Centauri/Narn affairs. It's sweet, and angsty, and sexy (yes, tentacles can be): A story about Londo and Urza in their youth. What is it about friends destined to kill another that makes them so compelling for pairings?

Meanwhile, [livejournal.com profile] theatrical_muse continues to be fun. The Fireflymuses are as fabulous as the other players from the Jossverse, and while the Endless have been quiet for a while, [livejournal.com profile] first_born_son (Cain) arrived is written in a perfect Gaimanesque voice. Considering the presence of [livejournal.com profile] mr_morden among the muses, [livejournal.com profile] londo_mollari is trying to hire Xena and Gabrielle as bodyguards for [livejournal.com profile] timov_of_algul, and wonders if [livejournal.com profile] crais could manage the transport. The joys of the multiverse.*g*

Musik:Beethoven's 5th

Hail the, fellow lover of the Beethoven symphonies: :-)).
Beethoven's 6th was the first piece of classical music I have fallen in love with. (at the age of 17 or so)

And the Allegretto of the 7th symphony is among the most beautiful and intense pieces of music I know. (how much sadness, how much beauty. The Inevitability and the joy of live)

And I have a wonderful recording by Furthwängler, who is imho the greatest interpreter of Beethoven.

Anyway, I am listening to it right now. And guess what: In the same cd case there was also my long lost U2 Cd "All that you can't leave behind". I wonder how it got there. So your entry made me rediscover it ;-): Thanks ;-)

Mmmmmmmm Gideon/Lochley! Since I got into Crusade before I discovered B5, I had this entire "I-want-to-be-Elizabeth-Lochley!" phase because a) she's cute and sassy b) she runs a space station and c) she has a hot boyfriend!

Then I started watching B5 and was completely blown away by the presence of Ivanova and Delenn. Mrrrr!

I knew it.

Great Maker, Rygel? You have my sympathies. I mean, he's adorable, but he also farts helium. ::shakes head::

Furtwängler: I'm with you there. Incidentally, have you ever seen Taking Sides?

Somehow I missed out on U2 completely so far. With which CD should I start?

I know you're not surprised. *g*

And hey, when did dating one of these people ever not end in sadness?

cheer up

Considering Crichton's track record, one bad date is better than a long-time involvement with him, which would completely ruin your life...*g*

That's probably why my date ends in sadness...

Hi there!

Incidentally, have you ever seen Taking Sides?

I have seen it in London many years ago. I remember it to be an interesting play as far as the political aspects are concerned, but also because it reflects the experience especially of my family in the respect that Furthwängler really opened up classical music for a young generation in Germany. Do you know if they have made a movie from the play?

btw, I have all 9 symphonies in Furthwängler recordings (EMI). Interested?

Somehow I missed out on U2 completely so far. With which CD should I start?

I do not know if I should recommend U2 at all any longer, the music being very much part of my teen life (I used to be a really bing fan, posters in my room and all that, but that wore of somewhat ;-).

Anyway, the "Joshua Tree" Album is the most famous one, and "Achtung Baby" is also a good starting point I guess.

And speaking of music: You asked me about Leonard Cohen some while ago: Again, rather part of my adolescence, but "New Skins for the old Ceremony" is a very good album still. (or, if you like it more sentimental, the very first one of 1968, songs of Leonard Cohen ;-)).

And one advice: Never ask me about music, next to cinema it is one of the topics that really get me talking ;-))

And was very amused to see my twisted Lyta/Morden suggestion bearing fruit ;-)

You bear the entire blame credit. For some reason, though, Mr. Morden won't be convinced by Londo yet that it's the perfect match...

True.
