The weather continues to be good, which meant yours truly and her not so Aged Mother did a lot of hiking these recent days (one of the funner ways to lose weight). I took my camera along, and some of the results are below the cut.
First of all, Bad Brückenau is of course a Kurbad, which means free mineral water everywhere. It also means elegant 19th century buildings and sculptures to remind you of the main purpose.

Also charming houses with wild flowers. I have no idea whom it belongs to, but I liked it a lot.

The landscape isn't as rocky as Franconian Switzerland back at home, but it's very charming, and sunlight through high trees always reminds me of Gothic churches. Some sights en route through various woods:

The valley where Bad Brückenau is located, and then the next one, from one of the panorama hiking paths.

This particular parth was actually an old smuggler path, between the borders of Bavaria and Hesse. You can still see the old borderstones - "KB" stands for "Kingdom Bavaria".

No reason other than I liked the plant which we spotted a lot in the woods:

We also hiked to the Volksberg monastery in another day. It has a typical Bavarian Baroque church from 16-something and a youth hospital at its top and the most spectacular views:

The one thing I regret about these holidays is just the limited onlinen life (or indeed time to read books, or redraft an essay), but well, it can't be helped. In another week it will be over, and until then, I just hope the weather holds so my mother & self can enjoy the scenery some more.
I tid, however, spot one spectacular X-Men fanfiction this morning: Anthem for Doomed Youth, which is an epic and wonderful Raven story, covering her years of growing up until the end of the film. Charles and Erik are well drawn as well, everyone is complicated and shades of grey and not black and white, and it's just beautiful, but the main reason I bounced was that this is the Raven story I hoped someone would write after I saw the film for the first time.
