I share your horror. Cherik is not the worst I've seen (I still think that honor goes to Snermione and the extremely confusing threesome smooshes, but it's up there with Spirk, definitely.) I'm seeing this most on Tumblr. I assume in part is is used because tags with a / don't work properly there.
