The ship confirmed my suspicion that M would not survive, too, since well, metaphor etc. And yes, it was a great scene, visually and in terms of establishing Q as a character and giving him a dynamic with Bond.

I'm very sad about M and have been looking for fanfic the whole day, but as we agree: if a character is to go, this is the way to do it!
