It's been a few years now, and the fact I could read some of Daniel Knauf's (that was the show runner responsible for the s2 changes) Marvel comics with interest proved to me I was over my fannish angst and the grrr, argh stage.
I still won't touch anything the man has done before and since.
Interestingly enough, judging from interviews, a lot of the things I liked about the show did come from Ron Moore, but in Knauf's defense, HBO intervened in the production massively, so a lot of the "dumbing down" probably is to be blamed on them. Still, characters like Iris weren't even around in the first drafts, and Justin was simply evil, without any shades of grey. Such a waste of a great concept.
