I think that's right, re filming times. It's a bold stroke in favor of Trek's history of progressive politics, even if it's a stroke this progressive Trekker isn't entirely comfortable on. (Maybe, in fact, that makes it better. I went to bed a little miffed about it, and I'm still of the party that thinks folks like Eichmann and McVeigh got theirs and we're better off without, but it's a good thing if Trek is going to map out territory that even liberal Americans can't 100% sign up on.)

Now that I can read reviews, I see there's a lot of discussion about the fact that Orci is not a liberal and in fact, believes 9/11 was an inside job. Woe. I was completely okay with the Watsonian answer for Admiral Marcus's treachery: that's Section 31's motive and means.
