Spiderman seen

selenakThe curse of technical malheurs is following me. Aside from not getting all the notifications for lj replies (something which is true for others as well, as I learned from ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
muffinmonster), I also can't get an entire friends page (of any lj) to load on my viewscreen anymore. It always scrambles or stops towards the end. Grr. Argh.
On the fun side of things, I saw Spiderman 2. You know, Sam Raimi was really inspired to cast Toby McGuire, because I can't think of many young actors who could actually sell the tortured, clumsy nerdish human identity that well. (Look at any incarnation of Clark Kent looking like a male model, with appropriate physique.) And Peter Parker definitely appears to be the most vulnerable of comic superheroes (which comes with constant urge to hug him.) All my Spiderman knowledge comes form the two movies (though now I shall really have to hunt for the JMS-written comic with a vengeance), so I can't tell how much in the spirit of the comic said films are, but by themselves they definitely are good entertainment. This time, Raimi even avoided my one annoyance in Spiderman I, which was the final shot with Spiderman and the American flagg. (Please.)
(Also, the "New Yorkers show solidarity with Spiderman" scene was infinitely more worked into the narrative and touching in II than it had been in I.)
Raimi, bless him, always had a delicious sense of fun to go with his action (see Xena at its best, see American Gothic), and not in the horrible Joel Schumacher sense, either; when Peter sees that washing the Spiderman outfit has ruined his other laundry, we smile but we're also aware that it's just one more example of how his life sucks and sympathize. It doesn't take away anything from his heroism, either. And speaking of previous Sam Raimi endeavours, I was delighted and amused he yet again worked in a cameo for brother Ted. Vivat Joxer the Mighty!
So, while I try to find those JMS written comics - are there any fanfic recs to be had?

Spiderman 2 doesn't appear to be opening here until next week which is annoying. We watched Spiderman on DVD a little while ago and were both really surprised by how much we enjoyed it, so I'm looking forward to seeing the second film a lot.

It didn't glamorize the super-heroness. We'll just ignore how serious I'm talking about this, shall we? =)
