In haste

This week, I'm going to be extremely busy. First due to a vist from [livejournal.com profile] muffinmonster (yay for our own mini B5 con), then with the Hopefully Temporary Bad News.

So, a few notes:

- my third [livejournal.com profile] multiverse2004 story is ready and only waiting for the beta to return

- [livejournal.com profile] muffinmonster is a Farscape virgin, but we won't have time for the full seduction routine I did with [livejournal.com profile] bimo - is there any particular episode I should show to lure her in?

- quote of the morning, discovered when hastily surfing the 'net: [livejournal.com profile] marinarusalka re: JKR interview: Read the excerpts at the leaky cauldron and was duly amused, both by JKR's comments, and by the inevitable wave of fannish hissy fits that follow every interview as fans are once again shocked! shocked and apalled! to discover that the woman has opinions about her own work and feelings about her own characters. (I am especially amused by the
lack of outrage over her attitude toward Dudley Dursley, even though it's practically identical to her attitude toward Draco, and even though every argument in defense of Draco applies just as well in defense of Dudley. Poor Dudley. Nobody every wants to dress him in the Leather Trousers of Redemption.

- with Miranda Richardson cast as Rita Skeeter, I want a Miranda icon saying "journalistic role model" once the first photos of her in that role emerge

*notes to self*

Also on the list, though, if she doesn't know how these people usually behave, will it work?

Not joking. Seriously, I was sad to hear that there wasn't going to be much of the Dursleys in HBP.

Me too, honestly. I used to see them as failed Dickensian caricatures in book 1-4, but in 5 they, and their scenes with Harry, struck me as very real.

However, on the bright side she said there's more to Petunia, and I'm looking forward to reading it.

I was just thinking -- when fuming about how people think Harry doesn't behave like a stereotypical (uh, I mean *classic*) abuse victim -- that in many ways the Dursleys are symbolic of the Potters. Both are not parents to Harry, both by (nominal) choice. So their relationship with Harry is important mostly through what it *isn't* (parental) than what it is (abusive). 'Cause Harry is all about the Abandonment Issues.

However, on the bright side she said there's more to Petunia, and I'm looking forward to reading it.

Oh, yeeeees. And that there would be quite a lot with them in book 7. I <3 the Dursleys!
