First Belle tale of the season.

Some retcons work, some don't, but I thought this one really fit well with Belle, giving her determination to be a hero and sacrifice herself in Skin Deep another layer. And her hesitation between Anna and her memories, making the wrong choice, was a very human moment (which, btw, in a way echoes Rumplestilskin's Baelfire versus his dagger moment); it also works with her determination to give people the benefit of the doubt and redeem them. (Mind you, some people insist on making the same mistake over and over again, more about that in a moment.)

Also good to know: that a part of Belle is on to Rumple and aware he's very likely lying to her, even if she tries to suppress those doubts. At least this is how I interpret the mirror working, i.e. it voices the fears and doubts from the subconcious of the watcher. Of course I'm now more impatient than ever for her to find out the truth - her apologizing to him for doubting him was excrutiating - , but given this build up, I'm somewhat confident this won't be blown off by the show like the Lacy interlude was.

Speaking of the mirror: clever twist/update on the Andersen one, where the shard the Snow Queen puts into Kai's heart makes him see everything around him as worthless. It also seems to be a given that Emma is going to be Kai, since the Snow Queen is after her. Also, given the emphasis that Emma looks just like the missing third sister, Helga, I bet we'll get a flashback where Jennifer Morrison gets to play an alternate role.

We have a name for the Snow Queen now: Ingrid. And speaking of motivations by guilt, I bet Ingrid, likely accidentally, caused Helga's death, in a lethal version of the Anna and Elsa childhood sequence at the start of Frozen. Which is why she's so determined to replace her, and why the royal family wanted to forget the both of them.

Also, given the Frozen established propensity of the Trolls for mindwipes they think beneficial - which gets another outing in this episode - , we have a likely cause for both Elsa's and Emma's missing memories. Either Ingrid got that power from them (maybe via the hat before she lost it agan?) or they did at least the Elsa mindwipe for their own reasons. I do hope the show at some point will let one of the characters point out that no, this taking away of memories is not good therapy.

Lastly: Rumplestilskin, an immediate divorce is the least of what you deserve. Though I notice you said "those I love", plural, meaning Henry in addition to Belle, one assumes, and considering Henry just manipulated you successfully, I'm cool with him continuing to interact with you. But Belle? Really really really needs to get out.
