Prague Spring!
Apr. 30th, 2015 06:17 amUnexpected Prague was unexpected, and drop-dead gorgeous. Also, considering today will be spent mostly indoors, I dashed about the golden city yesterday like a madwoman, but just look at all there was to see!

First there was the Strahov monastery. The library is legendary, but yesterday was an outdoors event (the weather is about to change), today I'll see the library itself. Meanwhile, have the outside:

The hill on which the seat of government, the cathedral and the monastery aree is the Hradschin. Here's an overall view from the city:

Now for some Hradschin details. Here's the main residence:

St Vitus, the cathedral:

From the front:

I love the details (supposedly depicting the seasons) from the iron door here:

The old Royal Palace in the court. Don't hold me to it, but I think that's where the 30 Years War started, with the Defenestration of Prague.

The most famous of the bridges over the Moldau is Charles Bridge. Have a look in totem:

The old lady feeding swans from where I was taking the photo was such an untouristy moment, I loved it:

The other side of the bridge:

Bridge crossing:

Look back at the Hradschin from the bridge:

Look through the gate into the city:

Next, yours truly wandered to the famous market square. Coming close to it:

Same square entrance, from above:

That was taken from a rooftop café, but you can have an even better overview from the clock tower. Up I went and enjoyed the clock tower view of the market square, looking at the church of Our Lady's:

The clock tower is a part of City Hall:

Here is the tower:

And the famous astronomical clock close up:

At every our, the apostles come out:

And Death rings a bell:

There are several synagogues in the old Jewish quarter. This is the Spanish Synagogue:

And the famous Jewish Cemetery of Prague (no Golem in sight):

Have one more look over Prague from the clock tower, in all directions:
