Briefly, from Bonn
May. 7th, 2005 12:23 amA long report will of course follow next week.
Train journey: v.v. long and featuring the Rhine and the Lorelai.
Fedcon, first afternoon: met
bimo,
cavendish and
muffinmonster.
bimo v. stylish in black leather and gloves as Psi Cop,
muffinmonster as Grey Council member. Cursed self for not having [Bad username or site: hobsonphile' @ livejournal.com]s talent for outfits, as no other Centauri on convention. Had larks.
Merchandise: made
altariel1 and
kradical richer through buying their books on Cardassia and Ferenginar respectively. Also bought Peacekeeper Wars DVD and Clone Wars DVD.
Panels: came too late for first Stephen Furst panel, but not to worry, will catch second one tomorrow. Opening ceremony okay, but no more. Had nostalgic longing for Redemption (the convention(s), not the episodes in various shows). Best moment in opening ceremony hilarious LotR vid (advertising Ring Con 2005) using Herbert Gröhnemeyer's Männer. Felt v.v. sorry that non-German speaking people will not get the extremely funny and apropos matching of words and imagery. Guest stars came on stage; Stephen Furst walks like Vir. Leonard Nimoy looks nowhere as old as he is. Andrew Robinson looks older. Clare Kramer looks more like Christina Ricci than like Glory. V.v. odd.
First panels: Jolene Black a sweetie. Also very outspoken about quality of writing, says that In a Mirror Darkly was where Enterprise should have started. Much Manny Coto praise and dissing of Those Guys Starting With B. Was only her third convention altogether.
Brent Spiner much like at other conventions a decade ago. Best apropos question from fan: "Are you related to Gilderoy Lockhart? Because you two have a lot in common." Alas, Spiner not HP reader.
Goals for tomorrow: collect autographs, spend no more money on merchandise, panels of Andrew Robinson and Stephen Furst, more larks with lj gang.

Date: 2005-05-08 08:22 pm (UTC)There was an amusing interview with her in a British magazine at around the time when she said that she'd only agreed to play Glory when she was assured that she wouldn't have to wear any heavy "monster" make-up or prostheses. However. she still ended up wearing more make-up than in any other role she'd ever played because they trowelled on the orthodox glamour make-up so thickly.
