Since last week's episode was extremely short, I waited for this week's with my review, which turned out to have been the right choice.

Seriously, though, what was up with the very brief time last week? I mean, what we saw wasn't bad, I enjoyed the David Tennant droid from Clone Wars, and we got a better sense of Sabine's and Ahsoka's relationship, and got a standard "but Exil Menace is back!" "Is not!" scene with Hera and the council (see, one thing I liked about The Last Jedi was that it subverted that SW cliché with Holdo and Poe, and Poe doing his own thing turned out to have been exactly the wrong thing to do), but all in all, it felt like just build up for this week's ep.

Which was captivating all around. We got to see Sabine fighting very well as a Mandalorian, and holding out much longer than before in a light saber duel, which was important to establish as it shows her decision and defeat at the end isn't due to lack of skills, it's mental and emotional. We finally got a real impression of what Baylan is like as a character, and the late Ray Stevenson is fantastic in this last outing. Dave Filoni's track writing record on fallen Jedi not Anakin Skywalker is a bit hit and miss, but this one is by far the most interesting he's created. Now I'm really curious whether his end goal is the same as Morgan Elsbeth's and Thrawn's. And how Sabine will deal with the fact that she could have stopped Team Villains then and there and didn't because of Ezra.

But of course, for me the best thing was this episode finally allowed me to connect this version of Ahsoka with her younger so much more emotional self from Clone Wars. Both in her reaction to Sabine's supposed death when she sees Shin, and in that final scene. The way Rosario Dawson says "Master?!?" is exactly Ashley Eckstein's, and the expression in her face when she hears his voice! Excuse me while I dance the "Skyguy and Snips, together again" dance of eternal joy. Well, not eternal, since undoubtedly there will be angst as well, given, well, everything, but I hope this will be a cathartic experience for Ahsoka allowing her to let go of her sense of guilt for having left and conversely allow herself to be spontanous and emotional again (not in a teenage way, in an adult way, I realise she's decades older now). Also: hug, please? Pretty please? Even if this Anakin should turn out just a projection of hers instead of the real deal and/or some type of (force) ghost, I want a hug....

That ending really was the perfect cliffhanger to get to tune in next week even as someone how hasn't seen TCW.

Using Anakin's redeemed force ghost would be really interesting.

Hera is just awful in the senate scene (don't talk about Thrawn, just go with tangible stolen hyperdrives) and taking her kid into battle.
