In haste: am having great time in France but alas no net access for my trusty laptop in lovely old French country houses. Report is being written nonetheless and will be posted as soon as I have said access again. Tomorrow I'll deliver my lecture on French history in Lion Feuchtwanger's novels; pray cross your fingers, everyone.

Oh, far more than the y/z switch of English-language keyboards? Tsk!

Way more. A lot of the the signs are in different places, the a and the m is, etc, etc.

Not just for Germans; anyone who's learned to type on a QWERTY board get a steep learning curve also.

Quite true. I mean, I have to adjust a bit to English language boards as well, because the y and the z are in different places, but French boards change a hell of a lot more.
