Meme from [livejournal.com profile] penknife. I've left out living people, and if an icon shows more than one person, listed all of them.

Make a list of all the characters in your icons. (Although you may have more than one icon of a single character, they only go on the list once.) Alphabetize it. Take the first two people on the list; that's your first pairing. Second two people; second pairing. Etc.

Lee "Apollo" Adama (new BSG) / Amanda (Highlander): She's a fun-loving immortal thief with a soft spot for issue-ridden heroic types and of course much older than him. You know, I could see that.

Angel (BTVS/AtS)/ Frodo Baggins (LotR): A world of no. Though in an ampersand story, they could talk about guilt and redemption and (failing to) save people.

Alfred Bester (Babylon 5)/Boromir (LotR): Err. Hm. On the one hand, Boromir is a mundane. Otoh, there is potential for mindmessing. Or even debates on "I will do everything to save my people" (because Bester would so have taken the ring, only he'd have made Frodo hand it over after Frodo betrayed Aragorn to Saruman). On the whole, probably not.

Jack Bristow/ Sydney Bristow (both Alias): NO!

Claudius (Roman History) / Connor (AtS): Also no. Claudius, Graves informs us because Robert Graves had issues, never had a homoerotic thought in his life. Otoh, talking ampersand instead of slash, Connor would certainly have benefited from a kindly uncle like Claudius (in Graves' version at least). Then again, Claudius was Nero's stepfather during Nero's most formative years, so...

Michael Corleone (The Godfather)/ John Crichton (Farscape): Two boys who just ping me as straight. There is ampersand potential, though. About that whole becoming a ruthless killer and shutting down emotionally thing.

Iris Crowe/ Justin Crowe (both Carnivale): Canon! Theirloveissocodependent.

Darla (BTVS/AtS) / Jadzia Dax (DS9): You know, I could see that. Both are main text bisexual, and as for the vampire element, Dax is open for new experiences. As for how it would come to be, well, there is all that Star Trek time travelling going on...

Delenn (B5)/ Irina Derevko (Alias): Two women who could talk about keeping (lethal) secrets from the men they love, big time. Also, yes, I could see it. Though SpyMommy would not have much patience for Delenn's mystical side.

Drusilla (BTVS/AtS)/ Dukat (DS9): Absolutely. Not just the sex - Dukat would just be the type to think he deserves being made immortal as a vampire. And then he'd try to turn Kira and get staked.

Eleanor of Aquitaine (History)/ Eowyn (LotR): Nope. Can't see it. Not even in an ampersand way. Because Eleanor wouldn't quite understand why Eowyn didn't use the opportunity to make herself Queen of Rohan.

Ezekiel (Spiderman, comicverse) / Emma Frost (X-Men, comicverse): They're both rich, morally ambiguous, not above using the people they care about, and with a dark past. Why not?

Sir Nicholas Fury (1602)/ Garak (DS9): This must be written. After all, Elizabethan Fury could have ended up everywhere at the end of the story. Two spies loyal to the state and yet in exile. Matching brains and ruthlessness. Shared issues. Oh yeah.

G'Kar (B5)/ Johann Wolfgang Goethe (History): You know, I could see G'Kar going fanboy on him, provided G'Kar reads Earth literature. And JWG was totally open to experiments.

Grima (LotR)/ Illyria (AtS): "My last Qua'ha'zan was taller," is all I'm saying. Because Grima is so Knox with less body hygiene.

Jasmine (AtS)/ Livia (Roman History): You know, the thought of a blissed-out Livia is deeply, deeply frightening. So frightening that someone ought to write it. Also, she would see nothing wrong in Jasmine's way to create a peaceful world. Provided she could rule it through Jasmine.

Duncan MacLeod (HL)/ Mariel (B5): He would, she would, but I can't see it last beyond a one night stand.

Methos (HL)/ Londo Mollari (B5): Nope. Ampersand-wise, they could have interesting conversations. "My good man, I wish I had only killed tens of thousands..."

Palpatine (Star Wars) / Peter Parker (Spiderman, comicverse): Well, Ezekiel and of course the unforgotten Uncle Ben prove Peter is receptive to mentor figures, and Palpatine would totally play on that if he figured out the Spiderman thing, as he undoubtedly would.

Pilot (FS)/ Quark (DS9): No. Physically incompatible, and that's just one problem. Totally not each other's type. Though Quark would so try to sell Moya.

Laura Roslin (new BSG)/ Rygel (FS): No. Way. Ampersand? Rygel, as David Kemper said repeatedly, is the smartest character on Farscape and a political pro. He and Roslin could have fascinating conversations.

Nadia Santos (Alias)/ Friedrich Schiller (History): Allowing for time travel, I could see that. He'd so want to write a drama about her father and Jack, though, and she might resent being pumped for information as a muse. Not to mention his habit with decaying apples...

Servalan (Blake's 7)/ Rita Skeeter (Harry Potter): Servalan would eat her for afterlunch without a problem. However, an interview of Servalan by Rita Skeeter needs to be written.

Anakin Skywalker (SW)/ Arvin Sloane (Alias): Errr. You know, both characters strike me as mainly, but not exclusively straight, i.e. I can see them in same-sex relationships under the right circumstances. Just not with each other. However, mentor/protegé, possibly with subtext? By all means. Sloane would so recruit Anakin for SD-6. Possibly adopt him, too. And they have more than just the initials in common.

Emily Sloane (Alias)/ Spike (BTVS/AtS): Well, she looks a bit like Joyce Summers and his mother. Depending on whether this is pre-chip or post-chip, he'd either just drain her or bring her flowers anonymously. Emily would think he's a nice boy and try to set him up with Sydney in the second scenario.

Buffy Summers (BTVS)/ Dawn Summers (BTVS): NO.

Timov (B5)/ Kara "Starbuck" Thrace (new BSG): Not in a sexual way, absolutely not. Ampersand-wise, Timov would be her bossy, sharp-tongued self which Kara might respect but which might also hit her wrong mother-recalling buttons. Can't see friendship, either.

Winn Adami (DS9)/ Charles Xavier (X-Men movieverse): We have nothing on movieverse Charles' sexuality either way, so I suppose it could be written. At the very least, they could match wits and manipulative skills.

Tom Zarek: Has no one left to be paired off with, narrowly missing out Winn/Zarek, which is of course an ideal pairing that someone ought to write. It practically writes itself. Really.

!! If by any chance it writes itself on your computer, do please post it! Even the two of them just talking about politics would be incredibly hot.

Yes, it really does...and you're just the person to write it *g*.

This meme is huge fun - must do it when I get back.

This is freakishly amusing. Maybe Livia is Jasmine -- it would explain a lot.

G'Kar (B5)/ Johann Wolfgang Goethe (History)

These two need to be written. And, also, one of mine - G'Kar / Guildenstern - for which you have been nominated. *cracks whip*

Also? Darla/Dax would make me happy on all my femmeslash levels. *bats lashes*

But I haven't read Hamlet for eons, and Tom Stoppard's play I only browsed! I'd have to read it first, see, and I'm presently without access to bookstores who could provide Stoppard.

Also, you asked for Darla and the Master punishing her - a good while ago, I wrote this challenge response for tm:

Oh my God, yes.

Also, Anakin in SD6, and Emily trying to set Syd up with Spike.

Syd/Anakin?

Syd/Anakin

Well, she had that thing with Noah (though nobody understands why), and massive Daddy issues, so it's not out of possibility she'd go for a morally ambiguous troubled fellow Chosen One. He has no problems with women dominating him, so sure, in a universe where there is no Padme and it's early to middle seaosn 1 Alias time, why not?

Lord, anybody's better than Noah.

Of course, what would happen when Jack turned out to be Anakin's father TOO? :)

Syd would freak out. Jack would go through an existential crisis, because his Doing It All For My Child rationale depends on only one child being around, not two with possibly conflicting interests. Anakin, otoh, would not really have a problem, save for the part where he wonders why his mother got the slave on Tattoine lot while Sydney's got the glamorous SpyMom existince.*g*

(No, seriously, I don't think Anakin would have any incest taboo problems with relatives he hasn't grown up with.)

having seen the cliffhanger for this past season, I'm kind of wishing Vaughn will turn out to be Syd's brother, but I'm thinking the network wouldn't go there.

Now JJ loves his incesteous subtext (just thinking of Sloane's mixed paternal and not so paternal feelings for Sydney) occasionally, but I very much doubt it in this case.

I used to fervently wish Vaughn would get killed off for three seasons, especially in season 3, but in 4 he actually had some interesting moments. Though if a regular gets killed off, he's still my first choice, so my prejudiced guess is that the cliffhanger is a way for prepare for Vartan to leave the show.
