The deleted scenes from season 2 of BSG: were imo more interesting to watch than the deleted scenes from season 1. Though for the most part Moore, Eick & Co. made the right call, I guess. To be specific:

1) The Tigh flashbacks. Or: Bill & Saul: A Love Story. Which it truly was. They were very interesting to watch, because I like Tigh and Adama, but in the actual episode, they would have completely interrupted the flow, the feeling of urgency and panic, plus you know, Tigh doesn't do the absent-minded look preceding flashbacks nearly so well as Duncan MacLeod. This being said, the way Adama spoke of his second wife makes me feel there was no great love there, which casts an interesting light on Adama, and clearly the woman with Tigh during his almost suicidal stint wasn't Ellen. (Which I had assumed it to be when we saw a smattering of this scene in the actual episode.) But did any of the flashbacks reveal something really ground shattering about either Tigh or Adama which we needed to know in the first two episodes? Nah.

2) More Laura Roslin is always welcome. But her nightmare about Billy aside, the scenes with her in them are interesting more for what they reveal about the other people. What I would have kept was the scene with Elosha, because Elosha needed some more fleshing out, and the scene showed that Laura had an impact on her as Laura Roslin, not just as the fulfillment of a prophecy. The scene with Lee where she confesses her doubts and him telling her that he believes it's right to "follow your heart" was cute, but not strictly necessary; there were plenty of Lee 'n Laura scenes in the actual eps which made their closeness then clear. Something I would have really liked to keep but might eventually have sacrificed, too, was the conversation with Billy juxtaposed to Adama Senior and Junior and Kara coming in. Both because what it says about Billy, and his relationship with Roslin, and because it makes it clear that Bill Adama, dear man, still. Doesn't. Get it. You can tell he doesn't believe Lee when Lee says his actions on Colonial One weren't about him just as you can tell Laura means it when she say to Billy she understands his reasons and later responds with "okay" when he makes his "I'm an atheist, and I believe in you and Commander Adama both" confession. Lastly, the scene with Roslin the power and experienced manipulator player from Final Cut was cool but again, not strictly necessary.

3) Gaius Baltar, I've always had a very secret soft spot for you, but this season, you became downright compelling. I regret all of your deleted scenes didn't make the cut, because they were compelling, too. Seriously: those dealing with Adama's disdain for Baltar and Baltar's reaction to this not only show his growing distance to humanity but also look like set-up for future events, and like a tactical mistake on Adama's part. The scene with Six on Kobol where she tells him to abandon his shipmates (which btw he doesn't in those episodes) and that he will be the only one who will live to see Earth have the sound of future impact, too. The thing with Six (and other Cylons) is, her predictions usually become true. In a twisted way, but they do. (See also: finding Kobol, baby arriving, etc.) Still - while I regret, I can understand. Not necessary for the actual episodes.

4) I do wish they'd have kept the scene in which Tyrol cuts loose on Cally, though, because it makes it clear that Tyrol hasn't forgiven her for murdering Sharon (and that Cally doesn't regret it).

5) Speaking of (deceased) Boomer: the longer version of Tigh interrogating her is even more uncomfortable and disturbing than the broadcast version, especially after Pegasus. Because I can so easily see Tigh, if he had been on board Pegasus instead of Galactica, carrying his rage and brutality to the same length.

6) The Zarek & Maier scene made it clear that Maier was a friend rather than a henchman, but again, can see why it had to go. Still, my soft spot for Zarek isn't even hidden. More Zarek is always welcome, too.

It's really not that secret. Your soft spots rarely are *g*

I'm out of the loop as usual -- where can said deleted scenes be found? (Billy AND Zarek? Like I'm gonna pass that up?)

Okay, so it's not a secret. I might as well cross the line and get myself a Baltar icon, which I shall do soon.

The deleted scenes are available at the official scifi.com website for BSG.
