Jan. 12th, 2006 07:12 amSo, the Aged Parent's idea to use the flat in Bad Wiessee he used to rent to other people privately on the occasion of his retirement? Best idea ever. Last week was bad weather, so we went back to Bamberg; this week was perfect, sunshine, cloudless sky, what have you, when Munich only 60 kilometres away was cloudy, so we were here.
This meant I got to ski a lot, but it also meant little time on the net, just as an explanation for my relative silence. Anyway, I'm happy to report there are far more skiing opportunities here than I had assumed there would be - Brauneck is just amazing, Sudelfeld and Spitzingen aren't have bad, either. But next week it's work related travelling, so my days on the slopes are definitely numbered.

Oh, and I also should mention that I'm considerably more tired today than I should be, since a certain Roman lady and her somewhat prominent acquaintances have kept me up way past my usual bedtime ;-)

Date: 2006-01-12 04:50 pm (UTC)Also, alas, over - today was my last day, tomorrow the weather will change, so it's the weekend in Munich, and then work everywhere. (Not Duisburg, yet.)
Also, that is very good to hear!
Hehe.
Date: 2006-01-12 09:19 pm (UTC)I also continue to be mildly freaked out/amused by your 'Aged Parent' moniker for your dad since he's apparently (if I remember correctly; you mentioned his age somewhere recently, I think) younger than my dad... though I assume you're using that expression mostly in an ironic sense.

Date: 2006-01-13 09:05 am (UTC)What do you say? On the upside, I think we'll have a lot of fun together. You're one of my fave SW writers and I loved all your stories. I think you *get* Anakin, Obi-Wan *and* Padme a lot and as this story sort of revolves around them and Count Dooku, you'd really be an asset if you join us. In a capsule, it's an AU that starts from the end of AotC with Padme deciding not to marry Anakin or have any kind of romantic relationship with him. And thus the 'alternat'-ion begins. Somewhere along the line, Padme becomes a serious thorn in the Chancellor's flesh; Anakin and Obi-Wan become the real friends they missed out on being in canon; and Dooku first decides to eliminate Anakin, his unknowning Sith apprentice rival, and later decides to recruit him. And succeeds.
On the downside, it's not called an epic for fancy. It's 6 volumes and we're only 3/4 of the way into the first 2 which combined are 32 chapters long, each chapter averaging 9,000 words. You don't have to sign up for the long haul, you can always choose to be part of the process for say... Volume 3 only and we'd get another writer for Volume 4....
Anyway.........
What do you think? *bats eyelashes*
Re: OT
Date: 2006-01-14 03:46 pm (UTC)But: I have 60 cities to travel to within the next three months. And I just can't commit to a longer story with that kind of RL schedule.
*feels guilty*
Re: OT
Date: 2006-01-14 04:55 pm (UTC)But whatever you decide, I'm just happy that you considered it and you'd love to, if only for the entrapments of the Darth RealLife.
Cheers!
