Dec. 1st, 2003 07:02 pmYou know the guilty of feeling of liking something though it shamelessly pushes every cheap button there is? Yes, I saw Love Actually and liked it very much. Everyone is great fun in it, but I think my favourites are Emma Thompson whose husband (Alan Rickman) is on the verge of cheating on her, and whoever played the has-been rock star who out-Richards Keith Richards. Colin Firth is also adorable as the novelist falling in love with a woman whose language he does not speak. Heck, everyone is adorable. (That's why I know I shouldn't fallen for it.) Well, except for Billy Bob Thornton, and he's not supposed to be. Remember my question a few entries back about whether one can imagine movies that are commercially successful in the US featuring an American villain? Well, that has been answered. Unless Love, Actually doesn't make cash in the States?
Mind you... ( Spoiler )
Meanwhile, the recent watching of Angel episodes has left me hungry for some fanfiction. Is there any good post-Lineage Wesley fic out there? Any Spike and Angel (or Spike/Angel) during or post-Destiny?
And lastly, tip of the day: 'Tis the season.
altariel1 has done the impossible - applied the Dickensian premise of "A Christmas Tale" to Denethor, who does make a great Scrooge, and made it work. Read it here. I have to confess the flashback to Boromir and Faramir as boys had me all misty-eyed again. For which I blame Richard Curtis. Bloody Christmas sentimentality. Bah, humbug! But I still want to read the story again...
