Yesterday, I went to a Chris de Burgh concert which was splendid. He sang all by his lonesome, no back-up band, just him and the guitar and him and the piano respectively, which means the ballads were never in danger of sounding too sweet, or the rock numbers too bombastic. Quite a witty fellow, too, though it wasn't all jokes between the numbers - several of the newer songs were anti war, and he once said pointedly that there was nothing whatsoever glorious about war and that one wished Bush would remember that before starting yet another one.

Most surprising thing: that he launched into a medley of Beatles songs after the third curtain call or so, starting with A Hard Day's Night and ending with Hey, Jude. Being a fan, I happen to know the text of most Beatles songs, but was pleasantly astonished to see that so did most of the crowd.

This morning, I woke up to the discovery that not only did one of my T_M muses finally get a reply from a certain someone but that [livejournal.com profile] andrastewhite has finished the beta of my B5/Sandman crossover. Will post it later. But first, more photos!

selenak: (Londo)
Okay, the final result of my African trip, aka the Babylon 5/Sandman crossover I am a bit nervous about, not having written Sandman before.

B5 only people, the Endless in this story - Despair, Dream, Desire, Destiny, Destruction, Delirium and Death - aren't gods, they're a bunch of anthropomorphic personifications. Also a quite dysfunctional family. They've got certain constant characteristica, but their appearance very much depends on the eye of the beholder.

Sandman only people, Londo Mollari would be the chap I've been muttering about repeatedly in this journal. See icon. Our Neil wrote an episode for the show. More about B5 in general and Londo in particular here, in the fantastic summary written by [livejournal.com profile] sabine101.

Title: Presences
Disclaimer: All things Babylon 5 owned by JMS and Babylonian Productions, all things Sandman possession of Neil Gaiman and Vertigo.
Thanks to: Andraste, both for the original inspiration and the beta-reading. It's not her fault that she challenged me to write Londo meeting one of the Endless, and I ended up introducing him to all seven.

So a Centauri meets the Endless... )
