I originally wanted to post the remix I owe [livejournal.com profile] artaxastra, but my muse is stubborn and refused to cooparate on that one. Tomorrow I hope to persuade her. So instead, links.

In a service to all online Sci-Fi fans, [livejournal.com profile] kernezelda these last days has been posting links for the first season of the British Sci-Fi series Blake's 7. If you don't know B7, hop over to her lj and give it a try. It was produced in the late 70s, by BBC on the leftover budget of some soap opera, which means the special (cough, cough) effects make those used for the original Star Trek series look like the most brilliant CGI, but who cares? The dialogue is a snarky joy, the characters are edgy and interesting, and the dystopia is convincing. B7 influenced a lot of later Sci-Fi - notably Babylon 5 (and Crusade, of course), but a certain Mr. Whedon also mentioned having seen it in the years he spent in British schools, and lo and behold, he stole a line for Mal Reynolds to use in Firefly which Avon uses in B7. (And which the B7 story editor, Chris Boucher, stole from the Magnificent 7, so that's alright.*g*)

And speaking of later Sci-Fi, eye_of_a_cat wrote three drabbles short ficlets, each from a different fandom, so I shall link them separately for those of you who are only into one but not the other. However, they have a common red thread, so it's a treat to read them together. The Babylon 5 one features Delenn at the start of the Earth-Minbari war. The Star Wars one portrays Anakin Skywalker not too long after TPM. And the (new) Battlestar Galactica one gives us Boomer.

(Apropos BSG, behold the priceless and extremely funny presentation of the photos of the cast.)

On a similar funny note, here's a hilarious (and in character!) Firefly/BSG crossover. My favourite bit is Mal voting for Tom Zarek. (Because you know he so would.)

And lastly, a Star Wars ficlet from [livejournal.com profile] honorh showcasing tabloid journalism on Coruscant.
