I was sad about Carrie Fisher but thought I'd make it through the day without crying, and I did, yesterday, trying very hard to focus on Darth Real Life's task, and now I've woken up to find that Debbie Reynolds is gone, too. And now the tears are just flowing. Of course I didn't know either of them, any more than millions did. But each in their different way gave me something as a part of the audience, made my life brighter. And no parent should have to endure the loss of their child. If Debbie Reynolds had died last week, I'd still be somewhat sad, but I'd think: "She had a good life. It's what she thought herself. Let's rewatch Singing in the Rain."
