In case anyone is waiting for a BSG review, I did like the last episode but will not review until I've seen the second part.

Now, [livejournal.com profile] penknife has taken over [livejournal.com profile] idol_reflection and wants essays. Last year I had fun writing my Londo Mollari essay for said community, and upon checking what has been written since, I see two of my people are yet unclaimed. Plus [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee63 has claimed Jack Bristow, Irina Derevko and Nadia Santos from Alias. Does this practically demand an Arvin Sloane essay? Yes, it does. Did I already make preliminary studies for one? Yes, I did. Do I have the time for a full essay? No, I don't. And then there is Connor. I already wrote my essay of Connor love, and maybe I could just revise it somewhat to fit with the [livejournal.com profile] idol_reflection format? But shouldn't those essays be originals? Grrr, argh.

Plus [livejournal.com profile] penknife points out the lack of Trek character love, and this just awakens the Trekker within, and shouldn't I write a Quark essay?

Note to self: think of Darth Real Life. Seriously. You don't have time for this. I mean it. Even if you could use your Connor essay as a basis, the Sloane and Quark essays would require rewatching several key episodes, and what do you mean, that's not a trial? Real Life.

In other fannish news, [livejournal.com profile] carly_sullivan wrote a great story about Garibaldi and Londo for me in the B5 Friendship Ficathon: Truth, Belief and Second Chances.

So earlier today, I was in a conversation about the Bronte sisters, where the other person commented that their novels were "obviously written by people who never left their house." To which I said, "Leaving the house is overrated."

That said. . . sometimes you gotta do it. Anyway, we all know you'll be here raising the level of fannish discourse whenever you can, but if the Dark Sith Lord Real Life is calling, probably best not to overcommit. *hugs*

If you do Quark, I'll take a Niner on of your choosing. ;)

I'd forgotten about Idol Reflection! I beta'd this (http://community.livejournal.com/idol_reflection/5295.html) over there (heavily, but not heavily enough, I see). A couple of years ago now! And look! You commented on it. Maybe that's where I first read your name.

Anyway, I think you should adapt your Connor one. And I think Viky should do a Warren essay. I can't believe that Katrina and Andrew have essays but Warren doesn't. Wah.

I'm not awake yet.

Not only did I comment on it then, I pimped it now (http://community.livejournal.com/lateseasonlove/12513.html), only a few weeks ago. Small world.*g*

Also, you're not helping with the temptation!

P.S.

In the same entry I just linked, I also rec a fabulous Warren essay. Which isn't to say Viky shouldn't write one, of course!

Oooh! Hot damn. More reading.

And I'm not here to help!

:-P

I'm here to consume and give nothing back! That is the American way!

Excellent! I'm off to read it as soon as I finish your Connor treatise. I don't think Viky would write one, but I wish she would. She's got so many interesting ideas on his character. Or ...actually, anyone in the group of Troikafic writers that I used to call the Bee Suiters. They've all got fascinating viewpoints on Warren. Sadly, they seem to have exited the fandom.

Read it. Truly interesting. I really like the concept of a mary Sue deVille. I think Tucker is kind of like that for me. Although, in a way, it's mixed: he's the devilish part of me that is redeemable, hiding the fact that I kind of suspect that there IS no devilish part of me... and I'm not. Redeemable.

You realize I could ask you to take Dukat, don't you? *veg* But never fear. I did my bit for Trekdom and claimed Quark. Have a go at either Kira or Sisko, both would be great.

I knew there was a reason you lot rule the world.*g* Okay, fine. I gave in, like the soft decadent European that I am, and claimed Connor (and Quark).

I'll have you know that your Tucker is the reason why I'm occasionally eying the insanity of applying for Andrew at tm. And I don't even want to contemplate what all the middle aged mass murderers on my resume are for me...

The thing about Dukat is that I could write that essay. I could.

It would just majorly piss of Dukat fans, because unlike say, Spike or Methos, I see nothing at all that indicates that Dukat was ever redeemable. A 'human' being, yes, with all the ability to love and hate that sentient life has, but he spent the entirety of the series wrapped in his little bubble tunnel vision of self and his worldview had to conform to meet that at all times. Dukat was literally incapable of understanding the world outside the frame he built for it.

I think about picking him up sometimes, too. I can't (and Can, actually) believe no one else has. But, you know: I don't want to play against myself! Soooooo, if you ever want to just RP something out, I even have an Andrew journal you could just HAVE. :-) I used to play him. Actually, I started playing him.
