Briefly...
May. 25th, 2006 05:54 pmToday is Father's Day in Germany, so I went to Bamberg to spend it with my parents. Tomorrow, I'm off to Amsterdam for the weekend, for my first visit (other than switching air planes at the Amsterdam airport), which I'm really looking forward to, and then it's the road again.
(This also means no X3 for me until next Wednesday, alas.)
So, a quick Dr. Who rec:
Seven Reasons To Love The Seventh Doctor, by
andrastewhite.
And another finale-related Alias thought which I am frustrated I cannot share with Andraste, as she hasn't seen the fifth season yet, because if anyone is the Arthurian expert, it's her:
Back in season 3, watching a scene with Sydney and Sloane, it suddenly struck me that they reminded me of Merlin and Nimue. I meant that in the sense of Sydney being ultimately Sloane's doom, with the fact that he at least half intentionally created her to be just that playing in. And you know, Merlin really isn't a nice old man outside of Disney and other watered down versions. Later, in season 4, after watching Detente, the comparison came back to me and contributed to fanfic.
But... I had not expected Sloane to literary end up in a cave, in a sort-of-limbo equivalent to Merlin's sleep. With Sydney and Jack ultimately sharing the Nimue role, I guess.
