The heat having drained me of anything useful to say, here are a couple of links to other people`s smart thoughts:

Jackie Tyler leaves tv on: Paul Cornell on New Who. Paul Cornell being A Big Name in (old) Whodom, this was great to read. Plus I love that his favourite episode of s2/28 was Love and Monsters, as I am among the tiny crowd who adored that one as well, in its meta-ness. (Though it wasn't my favourite of the season - I think either School Reunion or Impossible Planet. With Girl in the Fireplace coming close behind.)

[livejournal.com profile] londonkds on Race in New Who.

Moving over to Alias: A great Sydney pov on the First Gen Spies, post-show finale: Still Life, by [livejournal.com profile] kangeiko.

And lastly, the Pirates movie starts here at the end of this week, so I'll finally be able to read spoilery posts again. Except that I'm going to watch the Ring at Bayreuth, which means no pirates until next week, in all likelihood.

I am off on Pirates. Gone. Left town. On a pirate ship somewhere. It punches all my buttons for Predatory Pairings, where a 'ship is off being dangerous together. Outlaw Pairings. Villain? Pairings.

*sigh*

Erik/Raven, Han/Leia, to some extent even Elza/Michel.

So now I'm writing Pirates fic. Though I have given up trying to figure out when the movies are set, because the canonical inconsistencies in date are so rampant that all I can say is that this is clearly after the Thirty Years War and probably before the French Revolution. Take your history goggles off first!

The Girl in the Fireplace I think has to be my favorite, but School Reunion is very close. Thanks for the links!

Oh, I'm another who enjoyed Love and Monsters, though I think it comes third to Impossible Planet and Girl in the Fireplace. We seem to have the same taste in Who. :-)

Not just Old Who - he wrote Father's Day in the first series and will, apprently, be contributing to the third.
