Love Meme: Farscape edition
Oct. 5th, 2006 07:53 amThe Frankfurt Book Fair started off splendidly, but left me as little time as I was afraid it would. However, rising at an ungodly hour and feeling like a zombie made me able to do two more of these (meeting
hmpf who converted me to Farscape to begin with yesterday also helped):
What John Crichton loves best about Rygel
...the fact that Sparky can’t be bribed. Which you wouldn’t think, because of course he can if we’re talking food or jewels in the right circumstances, but what John means is that sometimes when he has a plan the others will go along with it because they love him, or because he cajoles and charms them into it, but Ryel? No. If Rygel goes along, it’s either because the plan has a real chance of suceeding or because he already sold them out. Either way, it’s sort of reassuring.
.... the Dominar on a sugar high is adorable; not that he’ll ever tell Fluffy that, he’ll just kiss him again.
.... Sparky is smart. Really smart, wheels-behind-wheels clever. He might even hold his own against Scorpius. Wait, he already did. Which is why John sent Rygel to negotiate with Scorpy back then. But, and that’s a big but, as opposed to Scorpy Rygel never used that mind to turn other people inside out, no matter the cause. Sparky might be a greedy selfish son of a bitch, but he never, ever, made another person his toy. In short, he doesn’t rape. (Which is what John still thinks Scorpius did to him.) And in a universe where most people had a go at John Crichton’s mind and/or body sooner or later? That’s much.
What John Crichton loves best about Stark
....Astro’s voice. That was the first thing which got through the pain, back when he was out of the Aurora chair and in the cell again, the voice, suddenly changed, and suddenly there was something not painful in the universe to focus on.
...The fact Stark forgave him for Zhaan dying. Because John is pretty sure he couldn’t have forgiven Stark, or anyone, for Aeryn dying (he certainly didn’t forgive himself for that one, or Zhaan’s death after). He knows the life in the Unchartered Territories takes and takes and takes your ability for compassion, but Stark, who was born there, somehow still has it at full strength. It’s what John thinks of when Stark drives him mad again with another freakout.
... the way Stark argues with Rygel. The only reason John hasn’t told them they’re married is that he is afraid they might stop the act if he does.
