Buffy fanfic rec and Life on Mars squee
Mar. 15th, 2007 12:11 pmAh, Ides of March. Rather than bemoaning my transatlanti comics deprived fate, I shall squee over a new Buffy/Faith story the recent femslash ficathon produced:
Tissue
One of those things I loved about s7 was that way it brought Buffy and Faith together again, as adults, resolving (some) of their issues; I'm not entirely joking when I say that if I'm rooting for Buffy to end up with anyone post-Chosen, it's neither Angel nor Spike, it's Faith. So, post-Chosen fic which tackles the girls and takes into account they're not in a replay of season 3 and does both their voices justice is a joy to behold, and this story is a great example.
***
In other news, I liked the latest Life on Mars episode (2.04), and Sam's choice of an undercover pseudonym was the best ever.
Seriously: presenting himself as Tony Blair and Annie as Cherie was just wicked in the best sense. (Methinks D.I. Tyler was a tad frustrated in 2006 about the top guy, hmmm?) And as soon as I heard that, I knew there'd come a scene where he casts Gene as Gordon Brown.
(The one remaining question: does that mean Sam is a closet Tony/Gordon slasher?)
Sam freaking out about not having his tv, the radio and random telephones talking to him anymore made sense; by now, he's not just used to it, they symbolize his connection to 2006.
Sooner or later, this being the 70s, we probably had to get a 70s orgy, err, switching partners episode: the plot justification for Our Heroes going to the orgy itself were a tad flimsy (did they really think Denise would be stashed in the same house where Roger was busy having his tasteful orgy going on?), but hey: Tony/Cherie/Gordon posturing. I'm not complaining.
The 70s sexism shown by the other cops in regards to Annie and in general seemed a bit over the top in this episode, but then again, I reminded myself: it probably wasn't exaggarated, sadly enough.
