And Deathly Hallows and post Deathly Hallows fanfic, it has started. Seven Photographs is a great example, starting in the middle of the big showdown and giving us the aftermath for several characters in a wonderful, tender, melancholy way.

Because after all the angst, some "we're so twelve" jokes have to be: Deathly Hallows - the rude bits

Thanks for the link to the rude bits. This book had some doozies, and i'm not the type who goes looking for such things!

Thanks for the links--I'm comparatively new to HP fandom on LJ, so I'm always on the lookout for good fic. :-)

I had the same reaction when reading the story...

This didn't have to wait for Deathly Hallows, but I wonder what your thoughts are on who becomes the new Minister of Magic by 2007, and what happens when Harold Saxon becomes Prime Minister and receives the briefing from the Other Minister through the portrait on the wall....

Hm, given the longevity of wizards, I think Kingsley will probably hold on to that post for a good while so still will be Minister by 2007. (Though I hope eventually Hermione will be!)

And wow, that's crossover which demands to be written, What a splendid idea! (Well, except for the teensy problem of the Potter books existing in the Whoverse as the Doctor reads them, but hey, maybe that's all part of the clever cover-up.) I honestly have no idea how the Master would react, other than a) finding it amusing and b) wanting to make sure this doesn't interfere with his world domination plans.

I thought Kingsley was only Acting Minister, pending a new election. As for the books coexisting, there just needs to be someone feeding information to that Rowling Muggle woman, with a significant gap between actual events and novels... Philosopher's Stone is published in '97, about the beginning of the events in Deathly Hallows (since Harry's birth date and his parent's death are pretty well placed in 1980 and 1981 respectively). Harry would have other things to do than investigate Muggle publishing for all of that year, and thereafter who knows?

Actually, here's a horrible thought - were the Slitheen in office long enough for the procedure to be enacted, or no?

And what was Harriet Jones' reaction? What color was that Torchwood beam, in fact? Might it have been... green?
