Some Potter, some Who
Jul. 24th, 2007 07:22 pmAnd the great Deathly Hallows inspired fic keeps coming.
Summer Holidays - Hermione-centric look at everyone after the battle. I love every bit of it, but the Narcissa-Andromeda encounter is my favourite section.
Speaking of Narcissa Malfoy, née Black, who is so my favourite of that family (actually, make that families - Malfoys and Blacks both, though I also love the late Regulus): Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow is a great Narcissa pov throughout Deathly Hallows.
So, what did Dumbledore see in the Mirror of Erised? One great answer.
Have a fictional look at two epilogue-introduced characters , which I very much enjoyed.
And finally, End of the Line: great, great look at Severus Snape after you know what, with a lovely nod to Terry Prattchet.
And now, meta:
Applies to any fandom, and I'm sure you, like myself, will recognize the pattern:
misscam wrote a great essay with the best cat metaphor ever about how dislike towards characters and pairings in onself can be the result of the overenthusiasm of their fans, not caused by the characters themselves. (Examples quoted in the comments are, among others, Spike and Rose, and I certainly remember having had to stop reading threads about either during some periods as not to lose sight of the fact I actually like them.)
Check out this excellent post on why Remus Lupin's characterisation in DH is entirely consistent with his earlier appearances.
New Whovians, if you're intrigued by THAT character in season 3 and want to check out that character's episodes in Old Who, here is a helpful guide. Ahem.
And fanfic again, Doctor Who this time:
Familiarity: the Doctor during that period between Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords.

Date: 2007-07-24 06:42 pm (UTC)Well, the ASS 'ship has the better initials, but I maintain Scorpius/Rose has the better family awkardness and thus more fun. (Harry? Would at this point just shrug if his son said something about dating a Malfoy.)

I have a sneaking suspicion that Rose/Scorpius is part of JKR's own "personal canon" that she's got squirrelled away in her notes. Just a feeling.

Date: 2007-07-25 02:36 pm (UTC)I wrote a Londo Mollari meets the Endless (every single one of them) fanfic once upon a time, here (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1920733/1/Presences). They really can be inserted in any universe.
