Holding out for Heroes
Sep. 18th, 2007 02:33 pmA new trailer for Heroes, and I’m all excited fangirl over here:
New season 2 trailer
Trailery thoughts:
- looks like we’re keeping Noah Bennet as an ambiguous rather than a Definitely A White Hat character, which makes me very happy. My one uncertainty about his post-Company Man characterisation was whether or not the show meant us to think that any and all of his less than stellar deeds can be excused due to his protectiveness of Claire. More Ambigous!Bennet (who joined the Company voluntarily to begin with (long before Claire) with a readiness to do all kind of shady things) makes me gleeful, and it looks like Jack Coleman is having a great time being ruthless and creepy (that fake “you’re part of our family now” – whoever he says that too should better look out for his life insurance!) in addition to being affectionate.
- What/who is Ando holding out his hand to? Can’t be Hiro (who’s busy in feudal Japan), and I can’t make out what Ando is yelling
- This season seems to have a theme of people smashing mirrors
- I know it’s most likely a dream segment, but that clip of Nathan in the 5YG-devasted New York cityscape, looking around, made me feel a bit psychic again because of Through a Glass Darkly. At any rate, if a surviving Nathan gets confronted with what would have happened if he hadn’t acted as he did, I’m calling dibs. Also, Nathan’s voice saying “none of us deserved to be saved” and Nathan being among the mirror smashers in this trailer? Looks like mind messing on a big scale.
- “Who wants revenge, Mrs. Petrelli?” At a guess, one of this season’s villains does, and Angela will have to come forth with some information about the past, which she always skilfully avoided to. Can’t wait.
- I can’t say anything about the new folk based on these short segments, except that they’re on the run.
On another note, and involving both Heroes and Runaways:
So I had this vague plot bunny involving Hiro and Nathan, and encounters they never had, starting with Angela making Nathan babysit Little!Hiro, whom Kaito brought along to New York as we can see in the Company Man flashbacks, so the elders can do their shady business. Then I thought “oh, but this couldn’t be a comedy fic, because this is the very point in time where Nathan thinks Claire and Meredith died, and he went to Texas for the burial as we knew from Run. (I might still do something with the plot bunny, though). And then I thought: if Charles Deveaux had also dumped Little!Simone on Nathan to babysit while the First Gen Specials had it out with each other, and Nathan plus assorted kids – Peter, Simone and Hiro, and if there is a Linderman offspring, her or him, too – had accidentally overheard some of that, we’d have the very plot from Runaways. (For people not familiar with the comic series Runaways: a couple of teenagers plus one child find out their parents are all super villains, and, well, run away. Half the fun is them subsequently defeating the established Marvel heroes and ‘villains chasing after them. Little girl Molly (!) throwing Wolverine through the room and her later encounter with the Punisher are special highlights.) And now I want a Runaways: Heroes AU, because a barely adult Nathan Petrelli is positively the last person you would saddle with kids and teenagers, and thus would be comedy and character gold.

Even if it is a dream/hallucination, it makes the most sense for him, because he knows via Hiro that he messed up badly in that timeline.
Yes indeed, and I'm really looking forward to finding out how it plays out. And was that Peter's voice calling "Nathan" when Nathan smashed the mirror?
Runaways/Heroes: it won't leave me alone now but nibbles and whispers that I could make it work by letting the elders use the Haitian (also a kid!) as a reset button at the end!

Date: 2007-09-18 01:28 pm (UTC)I'm trying to figure out whether it was Nathan yelling, "Me!" or Peter yelling, "Nate!"
Need...new...episode...

Also, hi!
*waves* This was just the pick-me-up I needed this morning. :D

Date: 2007-09-18 02:32 pm (UTC)OMG season 1 continuity.*g* Though presumably one or both of them will think the other is dead and that it can't be true...
...so, which one will remember first Peter insisted they have this 6MA proven dream connection thing?

Date: 2007-09-18 03:16 pm (UTC)It would be awesome if, after being in denial for most of Season 1, Nathan decides to go looking for Peter after he has a dream/vision that his brother's still alive. *g* It could be what rouses him from his Hobo-state and gets him into the action, sans-Beard.

I can totally see that story in front of my eyes! Especially the part where the little ones drive Nathan insane because Hiro taught all of them how to speak Japanese, and they won't answer in English anymore.

Date: 2007-09-18 02:33 pm (UTC)*adds detail to hungry plot bunny*
Also, they'd all insist on trying out powers (because in true Runaways style, they'd manifest) and Nathan would be additonally driven insane by trying to make them not show off while they're on the run...
