And so I begin the last day of my life as a 33-years-old. Wont make it back online before Sunday evening, either, in all likelihood, because Saturday will be spent by driving to the other end of Germany again, plus some birthday stuff, and Sunday with joyful washing and ironing. (Not.)

You know, being confined to a cell phone as a modem helps with staying spoiler-free. Which I am for Angel so far. Maybe I'll manage to keep my virtue until getting back to my regular computer and the ability to download? Which reminds me, I'd be very grateful to anyone who gives me the current bit torrent URL.

Note to self: must encourage [livejournal.com profile] bimo to make more comments about droolworthiness of guys or lack of same. It encourages discussion.*g*

On that note: most of the early complaints once the roles of Remus Lupin and Sirius Black for the movie version of Prisoner of Azkaban were cast seem to center around the fact neither actor, David Thewliss in particular, was considered sexy. I feel an unbecoming fit of glee and Schadenfreude each time I stumble across another "but why couldn't it be Ewan?" wail. Because the whole "Sirius and Remus as sex gods" fanon is almost as annyoing as Misunderstood!Draco or Magically Turned Into Prince Charming!Snape. Mind you, I'm not saying Gary Oldman can't be compelling. (Haven't watched Mr. Thewliss in anything, so can't make any statements about his acting abilities.) But, to use a [livejournal.com profile] bimo phrase, poster boy material he is not.

Speaking about people sans sexiness (to fandom at large), here are some birthday wishes. My wish list of some weeks back turned out to be fairly successful, after all - I got some URLs to not-shippy fic centred around Buffy Summers, and [livejournal.com profile] hobsonphile created a Londo, Vir and G'Kar archive. (Also, she has just posted another of the Five Things Which Never Happened To Vir which is positively heroin to the angst addict in me.) So, let's see:

- Ferengi fanfic! Preferrably Quark, but I'd be happy about stories centring on Rom and Nog as well

- Rygel fanfic (wasn't [livejournal.com profile] kixxa writing some longer thing? did I miss it due to cell phone confinement?)

- Dursley fanfic (not that there aren't some nice Petunia explorations written already, but it's still a tiny drop of water in the ocean of fanfic, and what about
Dudley-post-Dementors anyway?).

Actually, she did post it, so you must have missed it. It's here (http://shriftweb.org/leviathan/archive/5/thedevil.html), if you want to read it. It's a very good fic. Really long and *all* about Rygel. I think you'll enjoy it. :)

Forgot to mention -- happy birthday a day early! I hope you have a great time tomorrow! :)

Thank you!

I just arrived home. Will look up [livejournal.com profile] kixxas story as soon as possible. Am too tired for words...

Your birthday?!?

And why, precisely, am I not invited to the party? Aside from the whole living-on-separate-continents thing, which is really a lame excuse in the grand scheme of things.

Seriously, happy 34th, and may a Bad Boy in Leather give you your birthday kiss!

Well, D'Hoffryn said...

...Honorificus lost her teleporting license for a year due to being friends with the mortal Rhys, so I figured you couldn't come...
From: [identity profile] gehayi.livejournal.com
...then yes, Honorificus and I are friends.

Quite honestly, though, I believe she's more interested in recruiting me to work for D'Hoffryn. She seems to think that I have true demonic potential for a human (which is self-evident, isn't it? I am an assassin for the PPC, after all).

Anyway, happy belated birthday to you, Selena. Sorry that HonorH couldn't be there with you.

Thank you!

And may your PPC assignments ever flourish. (OTOH, this implies where will be a lot more badfics, Sues and Stus for you to assassinate, so maybe I shouldn't wish it.)

You're Welcome!

Selena, if all the Suvian writers in the world stopped writing badfic tomorrow, there would still be enough in existence to keep every division of the PPC busy for generations to come.

For instance, there is this Buffy/Angel/X-Men Movieverse/Hercules/Xena/Highlander/the Sentinel crossover that we haven't done yet...

(Oh, no. No. I'm NOT kidding.)

And that's not a patch on the Wanderverse and the Journeyverse, which are basically universes that crossover every OTHER fictional universe.

The Wanderverse, for instance, encompasses--among many, many, MANY other TV and movie universes--Highlander (movieverse AND TV-verse), Hercules, Buffy, X-Files, Pretender, Nash Bridges, Walker Texas Ranger, Xena, La Femme Nikita, Gargoyles, Escaflowne...

So don't worry. There's a lot of work out here to do.

Now, let me see... I may be able to fulfill your Quark request, but I'll have to finish "Five Things..." and rewatch some DS9 first. I'll just steal, er, I mean, borrow the DVD's from my brother. *g*

I've never written for Quark before, so this might be an interesting challenge. *g*

Thank you!

Does this mean that you won't be doing chores on Sunday, or that they won't be joyful? If the latter, my commiserations ;-)

And I know a few women who have always found Gary Oldman deeply sexy.

Thank you!

Chores: Not joyful. (The English language can be tricky.)

Gary Oldman: oh, no doubt, and I do too, on occasion (plus I think he's an excellent actor when he wants to be), but he doesn't have the obvious prettiness the Sirius fangirls apparently have been expecting.

I know I have seen David Thewlis in something but I just can't remember what it was (Prime Suspect???). I suspect he must have something going for him as he lives with the gorgeous Anna Friel. It will be interesting to look back once this film has come out and see what the reactions to these two actors are then!

Happy Birthday and drive carefully

Kathy

Thewlis was in the Prime Suspect 3 and played a sleazy, violent pimp who was initially accused of a series of pedophiliac murders. Not a pleasant or likeable character in the least, but Thewlis made the guy believable, terrifying in his scenes with Helen Mirren and even sympathetic as he struggled to escape the frame put round him by the real murderer. He's not the delicately handsome man that the fangirls wanted (Thewlis can look anything from extremely handsome to extremely ugly, depending on what the role calls for) but he's a good character actor.

Well...

my complaints against Gary Oldman (no complaints about the other one) don't have anything to do with lacking sexiness, but rather with the fact that even with makeup and all (I've seen images) Oldman does not look like a once attractive man who's been to hell and back (or rather, who never really quite found the way back).

Aaaaaaaand....

finally I find out your birthday!!! Yay!

Happy (belated) Birthday!

Rejoice; you're not quite my oldest friend. Scape Sister AnduraNova (editor of 'Poison') holds that title. ;-)
