Not as good as the season opener, but with some great character scenes for Sarah and Cameron.

I've been wondering whether they'd pick up the thread of Sarah's non-death again or let it lie after Cameron told her last season that in the original timeline (aka the movies one), she died of cancer, or whether the doctor Sarah went to telling her she was healthy as far as he could see meant to be the end of this. Apparantly not. Good choice, I think; of course Sarah is all too aware of her mortality anyway - being chased by killer robots will do that to you - but cancer is different. Cancer is something she can't fight, outwit or defeat. And knowing that in a way, it happened to her already has to be additionally eerie. There is no guarantee Cameron dragging her and John some years into their future means Sarah will avoid this fate; but it's at least a possibility, a chance. Just as her death is.

The nuclear power plant infiltration plot was stupid but worth it for confronting Sarah with the cancer issue again. (I find I tolerate plot contrivances quite easily if they give me good character scenes. Otoh, if characters act not just foolish but ooc, I am not so forgiving. See last season's episode in which we were supposed to find Sarah's not-killing of the flunky whom she had Cameron depose in a minefield noble. ) I liked her interaction with the real Greenhorn (Greenwalt? I forgot), too; for all that Sarah's faking, she has a real warmth in these kind of situations - with Andy last season, too - and you get the sense these people never stop being people to her - she doesn't dehumanize them into "posssible targets".

The "I'm thinking" scene with Cameron, imo, settles it: my theory from last week was right, Cameron overriding the termination program wasn't due to any "repair" but due to herself making her very first decision out of free will, and she's still dealing with the possibilities. It must be frightening. Life as a machine can be simple: kill the Connors, protect the Connors, either way, there is no decision to be made because she's just following her program. But once she's managed to override her program, nothing is a given anymore. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

Agent Ellison: continues to be fabulous. Wanting to get the civilians - Charlie and his wife - to safety is both thoughtful and kind, and while I fear this means we've seen the last of Charlie, I can't fault the logic.

The nuclear plant guy was Greenway, and yes, that was a lovely scene. The actor is one of those HITGs, Paul Schulze. He was the hobo who was such a great influence on little Dick Whitman on Mad Men, among other things.

I was amused that Sonya Walger seems to go on the run an awful lot lately.

*headdesks* So that's why he seemed familiar.

Where else has Sonya Walger been on the run, since I'm displaying my lack of actor recognition?

She's Penny on Lost. As Michelle, she uses an American accent, and her bangs are now far more pronounced than they were in the Lost finale, that disguises her a little.
