I've recently come into the possession of an Avengers - as in British tv show, not American comics series - dvd collection (of the first season with Emma Peel, which I think was the show's overall fourth) and have started to watch, having previously caught only the individual episode or two, plus the horrid 90s movie version. (Poor Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman, having to earn their paycheck with that script.) The original is really great fun, and confirms my theory that in the 60s and 70s, Britain was the place to invade and/or evilly plot in. I mean, consider: if you did that in America, you got, at best, James Bond, and otherwise lots of military and explosions. In England, on the other hand, you the plotting supervillain might have to contend with the food and the weather, BUT you also got foiled by the likes of Emma Peel in her fabulous costumes, Steed with his debonair wit and umbrella, or of course the Doctor in his second and third incarnations, Jamie, Zoe, Liz, Jo and Sarah Jane. And of course the Brig. And if you really felt a penchant for some rough action, there was always Manchester and the Hunt/Tyler team to visit.

Speaking of time travel: here's my fanfic rec of the day.
The Sarah Connor Chronicles: Every time is the first time. Spoilers for both seasons, this takes the various possibilities suggested by the finale to the breathtaking, gut wrenching maximum. And then some.
