Three funeral links and a fanfic

selenakOff to Frankfurt, so, just a couple of links. For his bicenntenial, one of my favourite writers, Edgar Allen Poe, finally got a stylish funeral in Baltimore, complete with mourners ranging from Charles Beaudelaire to Arthur Conan Doyle to Alfred Hitchcock, and booing of the man who ruined his reputation for years, Rufus Griswold.
strangemuses has a report, evb has a glorious pic spam, and ellen_datlow has a funeral oration. Poe would have loved this!
Doctor Who fanfic rec:
Common Ground is a portrait of all three main New Who companions, Rose, Martha and Donna, which manages to be fair to all three, rendering them three dimensionally, without bashing one of them. Sadly, this is rare enough; it also happens to be excellently written. I love it.
