In which there are several zomg moments.

First of all, something trivial - because of the juxtaposition of the clip with Arthur's son directly after the clip of Deb figuring out Trinity couldn't have shot her in the previouslies, they had me there for a while and I thought "what the hell, Jonah shot Deb and Lundy?" Neat red herring, show.

In other news, Dexter's inner Harry is back as the truth about Arthur's/Trinity's not-so-perfect family unravels. (And Dexter unravels along with it, more about that in a moment.) "Trinity was supposed to be the alternative" indeed, the proof that you can be a serial killer and have a normal, happy family at the same time. In this episode, Dexter gets disillusioned at rapid pace as home life chez Arthur looks ever more disturbing, from the physical violence towards Jonah to the locks for Rebecca to Rebecca's overly sexualized behaviour which considering the locks strongly points towards sexual abuse by dad to Sally being terrified and unable/unwilling to do anything about it. Aside from all of this being disturbing by itself, it doubly freaks Dexter out because of how he's come to identity Arthur's family with his own (and by implication himself with Arthur), leading to the double revelatory climax. When Dexter pulled Arthur back from Jonah not by knocking him out but by using exactly the method he would have on a kill in front of Arthur's family my mouth was wide open, and remained that way for the rest of the episode. The thing is, Dexter didn't just show Arthur his inner monster - i.e. the season's villain whom we know will not survive the season. He now has three witnesses, and there is no way he could justify harming them to himself.

(The laziest and easiest way for the writers out of this is by having Arthur himself kill his family before Dexter kills him, but I hope they won't do that.)

Deb inviting Matsuka for Thanksgiving made me go awww, and clever writers, I did not suspect the plot device this would lead to. So. Hm. Actually, this went better than I feared, because Rita did not kiss Elliot back and rejected him verbally - but Matsuka didn't hear that, and thus undoubtedly will tell what he saw at the worst possible moment, leading to a situation where Dexter's conviction that he's in no way like Arthur will be tested. (Actually, mind, I think the answer is pretty obvious because of three years of previous characterisation.)

Okay, now I'm really expecting a bus or something else re: Angel and Maria LaGuerta, one or both, and this is not a happy thought, because I love them too, writers, don't do that to me!

As the other double revelation: ooookay. When Deb realized what Christine must have done, I was confused again and a tad annoyed because the only motive for Christine seemed to be some over the top jealousy re: Deb and Quinn, and I didn't like that particular cliché (i.e. female villain driven insane by jealousy) the last time they used it, either, with Lila kidnapping Rita's kids. However, the tag scene turned that around again. So: Christine is also Arthur's daughter. There are several possibilities here. Older legitimate daughter not spoken of because she left home? Illegitimate daughter? We'll find out soon, I suppose. But now the Christine and Quinn subplot finally ties into the main season arc and also the question of family and serial killers, because of Jonah and Rebecca are teenage examples of what living with one produces, Christine is an adult example.

In conclusion: can't wait for next week!
