Christmas Pic Spam
Dec. 25th, 2009 10:13 pmAs every year, the Aged Parents & self walked through the Bamberg churches on Christmas Eve and admired the various manger and nativity scenes. And though I photographed in years past, I still couldn't resist taking photos again for this year's presentations. They always change a little, after all, and I just love sharing them.
St. Carmel's always has the richest detail. This is just a part of the overview, you can never photograph the entire thing, because this Bethlehem consists of so many individual little scenes, but have one look from a distance before I get close anyway:

Now for the various characters with their own stories happening around the central one:

I love this guy, who is definitely a new addition:

And this is the church where it all takes place:

A complete contrast is the Bethlehem in the Obere Pfarre, where they went for Franconian traditional dress (and Bamberg as Bethlehem) in their depictions, like this:

Which is why this holy family also has a musician joining them in the manger:

And on that musical note, I shall leave the nativity scenes till next year!
