Meta on the goodbye scene with Jack and a lovely fanfic on Jack's pov during this encounter and after: Absolution.

About my favourite New Who family:
New Beginnings: a post-End of Time Donna drabble.
Old Soldiers: a Wilf portrait through his life. We love Wilf, yes we do, precious.
And lastly, I went and looked up the Sixth Doctor quote that's been nagging at the back of my mind ever since the finale was broadcast. It's from The Ultimate Foe, the last episode in Trial of a Time Lord. Very applicable to recent events and revelations, the Doctor said to his fellow Gallifreyans:
In all my travelling throughout the universe I have battled against evil, against power-mad conspirators. I should have stayed here. The oldest civilisation: decadent, degenerate, and rotten to the core. Power-mad conspirators, Daleks, Sontarans, Cybermen, they're still in the nursery compared to us. Ten million years of absolute power. That's what it takes to be really corrupt.
