Jan. 20th, 2010 03:42 pmName a TV show series in which you have seen every episode at least twice:
Trickier to answer than you'd think, considering I own quite a lot of my favourites and am a multifandom fan. However, the shows I love tend to have at least one episode I couldn't stand the first time around, so there is little motivation to watch it twice. I think ST: DS9, but I'm not sure, because I don't own the first season, only some episodes of same, which tells you something. (I am sure I watched seasons 2-7 at least twice because I really did rewatch them all when I bought the dvds.) Or...wait! American Gothic, yes, definitely. Also The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Name a (current) show you can't miss:
Lost when it comes back next month, The Good Wife, currently in hiatus shows like The Sarah Jane Adventures, Merlin and, of course, Doctor Who.
Name an actor that would make you more inclined to watch a show:
I'm more inclined to follow writers than actors, but given that I'll check out this odd lawyer pilot David Tennant is currently shooting for NBC and probably wouldn't were he not in it, I guess he counts. Also Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen.
Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show:
None really, if there are enough reasons for me to watch the show otherwise (i.e. premise, writers, other actors, etc.).
Name a show you can, and do, quote from:
Babylon 5. "Did I ever tell you you're cute for a Minbari? You're also cute, in an annoying sort of way. Everybody is cute! Even I am cute. But in purple, I am stunning!" (My Darling Londo, when drunk.)
Name a show you like that no one else enjoys:
"No one" is a bit exaggarated, but Crusade wasn't exactly popular.
Name a TV show which you've been known to sing the theme song:
bimo - I think it was her - and I surprised us about two years ago by still knowing the lyrics of various cartoons we watched as children by heart. Since then, the beastly things keep coming back to me, and I burst out with "Sindbad, Sindbad, schaut, wieviel Glück dieses Kind hat!" or "Heidi, Heidi, deine Welt sind die Berge", not to mention "Ja, diese Biene, die ich meine, nennt sich Majaaaaaaaa" at odd intervals in the show. Oh, and: "Kimba, Kimba, kleiner weißer Löwe, wir sind stolz auf dich, stolz auf dich, und gespannt, wie wird es weiter gehen..." I'm a bit less embarassed about being able to recite "Space: the final frontier..." from Star Trek and TNG, but that's no song.
Name a show you would recommend everyone to watch:
Current show? I'm with
wee_warrior: The Good Wife. Chock full of great female characters, interacting with each other (the men are interesting as well), layered writing and good acting. Dead and gone show? Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, because it's sadly still far too little known for being the best of all ST shows.
Name a TV series you own:
The West Wing, all of it since last winter. *celebrates anniversary of ownership*
What is your favourite episode of your favourite series?
I don't have a single favourite series - or a single favourite episode, but here's one from the top ten of both: Our Man Bashir, from season 4 of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The DS9 cast doing a Bond mini movie is funny, far more entertaining than most actual Bond movies, and it's the last episode with the ever so slashy Bashir/Garak duo paired up.
A show you mean to watch, but you just haven't gotten around to yet:
Slings and Arrows.
Ever quit watching a show because it was so bad?
Alas. Earth: Final Conflict and Heroes.
Name a show you aren't interested in watching, not in the least:
24. The first two seasons were enough, then I really couldn't stand the right wing propaganda anymore.
Name a show that's made you cry multiple times:
Several. I don't cry that easily, but I can't get through The Fall of Centauri Prime and Sleeping in Light from Babylon 5 without sobbing.
Oldest TV show you like?
My oldest fandom or the oldest show I grew fond of at any time in my life? If the former, Star Trek. If the later, Doctor Who.
Newest TV show you like?
Merlin and The Good Wife.
What do you eat when you watch TV?
Depends on whether I want to loose weight or not.
How often do you watch TV?
I tend to watch tv shows on dvd by now, not live, but that several times a week.
Do you have a favorite talk show?
No.
What's the last TV show you watched?
Being Human.
What's your favourite/preferred genre of TV?
Sci-Fi/Fantasy, she says defiantly.
What's your least favourite genre of TV?
Game shows and reality tv.
What was the first TV show you were obsessed with?
Kimba. One of the cartoon series mentioned above (later ripped off by Disney when they made The Lion King, but hey, they ripped off Hamlet as well, so Kimba was in good company), which I watched as a toddler and invented new stories for, recording them on tape with my best friend at the time. I wish I still had those tapes.
What TV show do you wish you never watched?
In a way, Carnivale. Because the first season was so good, and then it broke my heart by becoming awful in the second. If I hadn't watched the second season, I could still love the characters and their world.
What's the weirdest show you enjoyed?
Twin Peaks.
What TV show scared you the most?
Carnivale, with the first season episode Take a Number. Not only the scariest thing Ron Moore ever wrote but probably the scariest episode I ever saw, with its gutwrenching final image.
What is the funniest TV show you have ever watched?
Good old Fawlty Towers.
Which do you think is the best TV series ever made?
I shy away from "best ever" attributes, but if I have to... I, Claudius. Acting, writing, translating a novel into another medium in a way that creates a new work of art on its own - it really is the top. If it is disqualified because it is based on a novel, well - then I have to go with one of my two beloved space stations shows, to wit, Babylon 5. Why? Because with all its drawbacks - occasional dull episode, some creator blind spots, that JMS dialogue which tends to run the whole gambit from stilted to eminently quotable, not all actors on the same level - it's still unparalleled in what it set out to do, and did: five years of interconnected arcs to create one big story, sprawling like a Victorian novel whose multiple storylines sometimes interweave, sometimes run parallel, and in the end come together again. Not only did it spoil me in my demands of what I want when a show's headwriter actually claims to attempt an arc but it has spoiled me for redemption stories, for enemies-become-friends stories, for overlooked-sidekicks-become-heroes stories, for stories featuring two big ancient powers (and its conclusion that both are jerks). "This is the last of the Babylon stations. There will not be another."

Date: 2010-01-20 10:53 pm (UTC)I also loved the show and made up stories for it when I was a tiny fan. And I don't know why I'm surprised that we've apparently liked the same fandoms since we were small children ...
