After the rambling writerly meta, some more entertaining links:

Real life:

Kristin Chenoweth being awesome is not news, but still worth linking. In this particular case, she's responding to a recent Newsweek article which stated that openly gay actors aren't accepted in non-gay roles by the audience. Her reply to that one can't be improved upon.

Doctor Who:

Prime: an absolutely delightful story for New Who and Classic Who fans alike, as young Amelia Pond, shortly after her first meeting with Eleven, encounters Ace and the Seventh Doctor. We're in Amy's pov the entire time, so if you don't know Seven and Ace, don't worry, neither does young Amelia. If, on the other hand, you're familiar with them, you'll squee with me about the great characterisation. (There's even a bonus shippery Two/Jamie reference. Well, between Seven's accent and Amelia being a Scot, there should be!)

Found via calufrax: Do I dare to eat a peach?: in which Ten, in between specials, encounters Liz Shaw. Again, perfect for both New and Old fans. Liz Shaw was the Third Doctor's first companion, and is her awesome self, a few decades older, and a perfect foil for Ten on his lonesome. Great story about two old friends reconnecting. I also love the different ways of age presented here; Ten might be physically younger, but he's simultanously far older and less optimistic then he used to be as Three (when he was physically older), whereas Liz' physical and emotional age are in tandem.

Torchwood/ET:

The Extraterrestrial: in which an insane-sounding premise is pulled off gloriously. Children of Earth is the darkest of all Whoverse tales. E.T. is Steven Spielberg at his most optimistic and unabashedly sentimental. In this... I don't know whether crossover is even the right word... instead of the 456, a certain alien, instead of arriving in California to befriend Elliot, arrives in England and befriends Steven Carter. Simultanously, Jack Harkness, since Exit Wounds seriously short of personel, caves and asks the Home Office for some additional staff, which is how Agent Johnson and Lois Habiba end in Cardiff as well. Their first mission: tracking down the alien hiding in a certain someone's house in Bristol...

Farscape/Babylon 5 vid rec: if you, like me, are a fan of both shows, or either, this Farscape and Babylon 5 mashup, using the B5 season 5 intro and Farscape personnel, will make you smile.
