If you need a refresher, the original Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band cover is here, among a million other places. Of course, it's one of the three most often parodied Beatles covers (the other two being With the Beatles and Abbey Road), but what impresses and amuses me about this particular take is that the artist the Beatles - i.e. in his version the Avengers - are on the cover twice, once in their moptop phase (they used their wax puppets from Madame Tussaud's for that) and once in the Sgt. Pepper uniforms, complete with summer-of-love mustaches. So now here you also have two versions of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Hank Pym respectively, one Silver Age and one current day. (Also, Luke Cage gets to be Muhammad Ali, which, yeah.) Am amused at the equations of Tony Stark = John, Thor = Ringo, Cap = Paul and Hank Pym = George. (Does that make Pattie or Olivia Jan?) Also, Stephen Strange occupies either the Alistair Crowley or the Karl Marx position, which either way is win.
...I just realised that as far fetched as the Paul/Steve Rogers analogy is in many other ways: the Paul-is-dead urban myth which used the Pepper cover as one of its cornerstones makes it genius.
