Martha Encore
Mar. 18th, 2011 08:54 amNeeding to cheer myself up, I find it's time for another pic spam featuring English sheep dogs and their musicians. Co-starring some cats as well. Because Martha is the cuddliest dog who ever hung out with world famous rock stars in the 60s and beyond, and I've come across some more evidence of this. Also she was tolerant of cats hanging out with them as well.
Martha being patient while the gang is in their Sgt Pepper/acid phase, of moustaches and costumes fame.

But enough was enough:

Martha also got to meet more conventional orchestras. And tried to keep her Beatle from embarassing himself by his goofing around with the trumpet, but what can one lone dog do?

And then there were visiting Monkees.

As for the cats. And the girlfriends. There were several of those. Martha befriended them all. Notable combinations: Martha, Jane Asher, Thisbe the cat (named after a certain Midsummer Night's Dream sketch and the role Paul didn't play) and Martha's Beatle:

And of course, Martha, Linda, kitten of uncertified name and soon-to-be-adopted Heather. Also someone who got married that day:

If you want a closer look at that kitten:

By the way, don't ask me why Paul and Linda brought Martha and the kitten along in addition to Heather when they got married. They just did. Back to Martha and her musical acquaintances. In the 70s, she had to deal with the ever changing line up of Wings and the ever growing number of McCartney offsprings. She did both admirably:

That Dalmatian there in the group pic was just trying to make Martha jealous. As if.

Better cats than you have tried, buddy:

Having dealt with rock musicians, Martha had no trouble being a babysitter for actual children, who tend to be more mature.

The former usually need far more of a stern talking to than the later. Case in point:

And the former need to be taken on a walk far more, too:

And shown whom they belong to, no matter the zoo around:

Martha died in early 1981 (which means she got to be 15 years - pretty old for a dog!), and thus avoided being incriminated with the likes of Michael Jackson on film. But she would like you to know that even the fashion disasters of the 70s were worth it. Also, Scotland? Way better than London from her pov: I mean:
