Mar. 28th, 2011 03:34 pmLast week or so Peter David posted an old review of Generations in which he bemusingly pits the entirety of TOS versus one mediocre TNG movie and declares victory for TOS. (This is about as fair as if I would put the entirety of TNG versus Star Trek V: The Final Frontier" (aka the "why does God need a space ship?" one.) Also he does the Kirk vs Picard thing and declares his Gary Stu Mackenzie Malhoun is best, but then it's Jame's T. all the way. Given that he wrote several of my favourite TNG tie-ins back in the day, I found this somewhat disappointing, in a "but I thought you got Jean-Luc & Co., David!" manner. Ah well. (Incidentally, feel free to point out the obvious reply to the Kirk vs Picard question is Sisko, or Janeway. Much as I see DS9 as the best Trek, though, have grown to appreciate Sisko more and more in retrospect - especially in contrast to Bill Adama of BSG - and think Janeway is underappreciated, my heart still belongs to Picard. He's my Captain.) Which is why, despite being actually fond of the last movie, I don't feel bad at all posting what I discovered today on Deviant.Art. The first cartoon imagines how a J.J. Abrams version of TNG would look:
