In which there is teaming up of all sorts, and our heroes enjoy being on the side of the angels once in a while.
No matter what you think of the "Kalinda and Peter had a one night stand in the past" twist, it undoubtedly is a gift from god, or rather, the writers, to Archie Panjabi, because this episode (the last one, too, but this one even more) contains her best performance to date - the vulnerability, the guilt, the keeping it together, it's just breathtaking. Also I appreciate that while Kalinda is under so much pressure, she still uses her wits - figuring out that the reason why what's his name is keeping Blake's statement to himself would be because Childs is a lame duck and he's waiting to see who wins the election, so that if Peter wins he has something on the next state's attorney, and if Wendy wins he can still go public with it.
Meanwhile, we get a rarely unambiguous case of the week. BTW, if that one is inspired by an actual case as well, I - no, I'm not surprised. Though if a rock group actually uses lyrics by a killer, could you tell me which one so that I don't enrich them by accident? Anyway. We get a team-up of Alicia, Kalinda and Cary that makes me squee and reminds me again how effective a team they were in season 1. Am still torn whether or not I want Cary to come back to W&G, though, precisely because a) this case yet again illustrates that gasp, some people are guilty and really need good attorneys to put them behind bars, and b) he's good at his job and I like that we keep getting glimpses from team prosecution now and then via him.
Eli: love the banter with his daughter, and I think I'm shipping him in absentia with his ex wife who seems to have his number completely. The continuing Natalie plot was well done, avoiding all the trapfalls (many of which would have made Natalie fall gratefully into Eli's arms), and making a point about immigration laws and bureaucracy while they were at it. Also the curse/blessing of networking: it's unfair, but without Eli and Diane, Natalie and her father would not have had a chance.
...lastly: methinks we get the preparation of how to keep Eli on the show once Peter's campaign is over, i.e. he'll orchestrate a Diane-for-Judge campaign next.
