Studies in Gothic

Some photos from last week in England, because London, no matter how often one visits, is a glorious place.
That's from the rooftop of my hotel, where I was with
rozk before the theatre.



I hadn't visited Westminster Abbey in the last twenty years. Once I did, I remembered why: the entry fee is exorbitant, and one isn't allowed to take photos inside. Otoh the Abbey itself and the parliament nearby are beautiful; I do love the Gothic, and there is just no parliament building which can compete.

While I was on that side of the Thames, I had to pay a visit to the Globe as well:

Yesterday I was in Cologne for another conference, and before I went back to Munich, I could pay homage to the cathedral. I mean, I'm biased and in favour of the Bamberg cathedral emotionally, but there is no question the Cologne one is one of the most majestic buildings we have. Check it out by daylight and at night:
