First of all, thanks to
kathyh pointing out to me that
wisteria_ - may she be praised by grateful fans forever - had this Muppet!Angel mood theme up, and thanks to
wisteria_'s clear instructions, I could install it.
*adores Angel the Muppet for some more minutes in contemplative giggling*
On a slighly more serious note, is the a B5 mood theme? Bah, I might as well come out with what I truly want - how about a Londo mood theme? (
hobsonphile, I'm looking at you. Look what
sabine101 and self just did for you at that party.) I could use it for
londo_mollari's lj but am sure a lot of other fans (looks at
andrastewhite) would be grateful, too.
Secondly, on watching the trailer for Prisoner of Azkaban again, I remembered the photo-caused complains about Remus' looks (especially the moustache) and to a lesser degree Sirius'. Now, film versions inevitably influence a lot of fanfiction, and I'm not just thinking of the people who refuse to read the book(s). Any LotR story that mentions Frodo's blue eyes draws on Elijah Wood's performance (not that Tolkien specifies Frodo's eye colour - at least not to my recollection - but come on!) Any HP story that raves about Snape's voice is definitely Alan Rickman-influenced. (Of course, given that Rickman was a JKR choice for the part, she might have imagined Snape sounding like him. Her original drawing - as seen in the documentaries - looks more like Rowan Atkinson.*g*) And so on. However, sometimes you also have the opposite phenomenon - characters first exist on screen but then are rewritten in another physical form. I'm thinking of Avon's constant magical weight loss - Paul Darrow might never have been as stout as Gareth Thomas, but at no point of his career was he ever "slender", an adjective poor Avon often is saddled with. I recall one PGP 'zine-based saga, Hellhound, which makes a plot point out of Avon's razor-thinness, at a point where the actor playing him had long settled into comfortable pouchy middle age.
So I wonder what will happen once Prisoner of Azkaban hits the screen. I do think there is a good chance that we'll get at least some Oldman-based Sirius descriptions, but will David Thewlis influence fannish Remus, or will good old Remus continue to be written as if looking like Ewan McGregor/Jason Carter/Your Male Hunk of Choice? (Again, I might be wrong but I don't think Remus' looks are something JKR wastes much description, so Remus the Sex God clearly hails from fans liking the character and promptly endowing him with physical perfection.)
Now, about that party. Which, like Draco's, will probably continue for days to come. I have the dark suspicion that Londo's first post-party entry will start with "That did not happen" (though I gave that line to G'Kar in a fanfic.) You can read up everything so far over at
emperor_cotto_i's, but if some Universe Today reporter among you wants pointers towards the most juicy goings'on:
Look who came for dinner, after all?
Boys, challenging each other is ALWAYS a bad idea!
At least Londo and G'Kar won't be the only ones making the tabloids; whatever happened to Mr. Garibaldi?
And now someone is in trouble, which he truly does not understand.
But life in the B5'verse isn't all partying; there are also deadly politics, and I predict Damar will be rushed by a certain Centauri till he 'fesses up in regards to G'Kar's whereabouts.

Date: 2004-04-03 07:35 am (UTC)A Londo mood theme, huh? For this (http://www.livejournal.com/users/emperor_cotto_i/8443.html?thread=100091#t100091), my dear, I would fly over to Germany and kiss you if I had the funds. *g* A mood theme it is, though it might a few days.
And I shall have to ask
We totally have to write the article that will appear Galaxy Gab as a result of this party. *g*

Date: 2004-04-03 08:06 am (UTC)I think as far as movie-figure influence fiction on the character, Gary Oldman will definitely shape Sirius fiction. Fans accept the fact that a) he is older and b) he is unkempt because his introduction in the books was a mad, disheveled, stain-toothed criminal. JKR didn't let fans romanticize his appearance as much as with Remus.
But what all movie adaptations seem to do is inspire load upon load of smutty fiction. The example I'm thinking of is Pride and Prejudice. People loved Elizabeth and Darcy but after the 1995 adaption was released, every Jane Austen fan began writing epic porn. *g* I wasn't in the HP fandom before the movies began filming but I can wager that Snape wasn't shipped nearly as often or with so much talent as he was after Rickman was cast.

Also true, though there was Snape-centric fanfic before that, barely - mostly due to the last chapters of GoF.
My Remus doesn't look like a hunk.
Date: 2004-04-03 04:57 pm (UTC)Neither does my Sirius look like a hunk, btw.
Ah, damn, another day has passed without me writing a word. Damn, damn.
