An episode to the general theme of Diane pwning everyone, which means I enjoyed it a lot. :)

Ages ago, i.e.  when I was a teenager, there was this show starring Lee Majors about a stuntman moonlighting with serving summons, so that show's theme tune "I'm the lonely stuntman", rang in my head various times today for obvious reasons. :) More seriously, we have a new love interest for Diane, it seems, and I appreciate he's low key, with a sense of humour and in his late 5Os by the looks of him.  Loved their scenes together. Not that Diane putting Eli and David Lee into the corner wasn't hot as well. Clearly, she should have a harem.

The case of the week was more or less just an excuse to highlight the current inner workings at Lockhart & Gardner. I find it interesting that Will, while having Diane's support 100%, hasn't told her - or anyone else! - what Wendy Scott Carr told him: that she's gunning for Peter, not him or L&G.  I wonder why.

Alicia's unease at the prospect of possibly collaborating at a forgery is matched by her surprise when Cary gives his positive testimony. Their brief scene reminded me again that in late s2 [profile] abigail_n was wondering whether they might end up as the new Diane and Will when the show wraps up. Though, as he says, Cary likes his current job. Well, minus the special prosecutur bit.  Considering Wendy's characterisation this season has been solely negative (with the Ken Starr analogy ever more evident), the scene with a children was a welcome reminder she's human while at the same time being another great showcase for Elsbeth the brilliant redhead, now representing Will.

Good to see Alicia and Kalinda on cautiously friendly terms again. Also, in case I forgot to mention it in my last review, I suspect the headmistress of Grace's and Zach's new school whom Peter first charmed and then bullied into accepting them will end up testifying for Wendy, hence the quick reminder of the Florick children at their new school at the start of the episode.

All I could think as Diane walked away - they had several long shot scenes where she walks towards or away from the camera - was *damn, that's fine.* She's so conscious and comfortable in her body, and her clothes are always gorgeous - I love the costume department on TGW for the way the various suits are cheap or expensive, reflecting the wealth of each person - the deliberate grunginess of the PI, Kalinda's very particular jacket, and then Diane's clothes that always say she's wealthy and interested in fashion and design, but far too busy to do more than look elegant, while Alicia's clothes are so boringly correct and office wear.

I would happily watch a spin-off. Actually, given the giant cast they have, splitting it into several intertwined shows would be so good.
