Weekend report

The weekend went very well - glorious fannish fun. Of course, one little downside was that we found out
bimo had the American Firefly DVDS, which my DVD player can't play. But that didn't stop us - there were the new Blake's 7 DVDs, after all, plus lots of Babylon 5 (which was on my mind for some mysterious reason, and I didn't find it at all difficult to persuade
bimo to watch those in tandem of B7 - and then some Chaplin, since she hadn't watched anything but Gold Rush and I am, among other things, Silent Movies Girl.
At one point, we sat in front of my computer and watched the new Angel episode, Unterneath.
Okay, Lindsey in the suburbs, picking up his newspaper? Priceless. Best image of hell this show has come up with yet.*g* Ah, Jossverse with your sharp satire now and then, how shall I miss thee.
Seriously now, I'm not even a big Lindsay fan and I thought the plot dealing with good old Lindsers totally redeemed the lameness of his supposed motivations in You're Welcome. Also, great exit for Gunn in a makes-total-sense way, and an excellent conclusion to his storyarc through the season so far, which for me was the first Gunn plot line I actually found as interesting as what was going on with the rest of the crew.
Wesley's conversations with Illyria felt oddly like another episode - that's not a criticism, just an observation. Also, at various times they made me suspect that Wesley tried to talk Illyria into suicide, or into taking him to another dimension, or into destroying the world. Which he just might be dissaffected and crazy enough to do now. Hmmmmm.
Speaking of Illyria, nice switch in the credits! And speaking of the credits,
bimo and I both yelped in delight at finding Harmony there. Go, Harm! You deserve it.
The wife they picked up for Lindsey's suburban hell looked very much like Julie Benz, so clearly Lindsey is far from over his Darla fixation. Also, the moment when Angel tells him he's living a pretty lie and that won't do? Yes, that was the hammer of dramatic irony, thank you. Am curious whether Lindsey in his studies of the SP and Angel found out about Connor.

Date: 2004-04-18 09:24 am (UTC)I didn't know you liked silent movies! More of the twins separated at birth. Now you will tell me that you like Garbo and Valentino? And possibly Charles Boyer?

Date: 2004-04-18 11:38 am (UTC)Did you pick up on Illyria's riff on the Bladerunner "I've seen things you can't imagine" theme - combined with the world with shrimp in the next sentence! A nice little Buffy reference.
