Back on the road and working for a few days. Bad Kissingen yesterday, and today I'll be in Hamburg, which is windy and beautiful and quite chilly if I go by past experiences. Also, the journalists among the inhabitants tend to think one is weird for living in the South, but that's another chapter altogether. (US readers: think New York versus, hm, San Francisco or Los Angeles?)

Being able to get online only briefly makes me itchy, I notice, and wondering what I might miss. Bad addict, Selena. And this after I got such a nice present yesterday morning in the form of a great, splendidly mean Babylon 5 story about Bester and Carolyn, which you should all read and admire here.

And, somewhat belatedly...

Angel or Spike?
Depends on the show.*g* No, seriously, I like both characters, with Spike having a slight edge on BTVS and Angel on AtS.

Buffy or Willow?
No question about it, Buffy. My flawed, messed-up, physically and emotionally scarred heroine who keeps trying.

Fred or Cordelia?
Had the St. Cordy desaster never happened, it would have been Cordelia, without a question, since I used to love her deeply from the BTVS days onwards. As it is, and despite You're Welcome, I'll go with Fred, who surprised me by sneaking into my heart when I really didn't like her on her debut (though in retrospect that might have been general Pylea disdain) and staying there.

Xander or Oz?
Xander. Oz was cool, but a bit one note, though Seth Green rocked in Wild at Heart and New Moon Rising, the two episodes that allowed him to show other sides of Oz. Xander otoh could be infuriating (along with every other character) but was always an interesting package.

Lilah or Lindsey?
Lilah. Though the Lilahfen might manage to do to me what the Spikefen did to other people in regards to Spike; I shall try not to let that happen, since I was a Lilah defender of the first hour, before she became cool.

Giles or Joyce?
As a parent? Joyce, without question. (Not that she's flawless, mind, but you could be certain she'd stick around come hell or high water.) As a character? Giles.

Wesley or Gunn?
Wesley. I've been voting Gunn off the island ever since he appeared on the show. Figures that this would happen in the year when I finally, genuinenly, really cared what was happening to him (love that storyline!). But Wesley with his journey from Dork!Wesley to Dark!Wesley overtook Giles as my favourite Watcher (former, as Cordelia would say) around the time Five by Five was broadcast and never left the position since.

Anya or Tara?
Anya. I liked Tara a lot, but Anya was much more interesting.

Connor or Dawn?
A tie! Love them both, can't decide. Unless you mean which one I'd rather have around, in which case, Dawn, since hanging out with poor Connor is a bit like playing Russian Roulette.

Kate or Jenny?
Kate. Stupid L.A. Law, or Law and Order, or whichever show the actress left AtS for. Not only did this deprive me of the character just when Kate had started to make sense of life again, but it ensured the disastrous C/A (because my guess is that if Kate had stuck around, we'd have gotten Angel/Kate instead). I liked Jenny, but leaving aside that she had to stay dead in order not to invalidate Passion, I can't see where the character would have gone otherwise.

Darla or Drusilla?
Darla. My Queen of Air and Darkness, to quote [livejournal.com profile] kathyh's new and very beautiful icon. I was intrigued from the moment AtS reintroduced us to her, and when she said God doesn't want you, but I still do in Dear Boy, I became hers for life.

Who is the best couple?
Andrew and Warren. Joking, joking. No, I think I'll have to quote [livejournal.com profile] kathyh on this one:
"Buffy and Spike. They did each other appalling damage, and then managed to work towards overcoming it."

Buffy w/Angel, Spike, Riley, Parker, or Scott?
None of the above. In my heart of hearts, I'm rooting for Buffy/Faith. (Mind you, with Buffy being essentially straight and Faith being decidedly not the type to settle down somewhere, it would be an unconventional relationship in every sense of the word.)

Angel w/Buffy, Fred, Cordelia, Eve, Darla or Drusilla?
Darla, naturally. Still my favourite AtS'ship, despite her being dead (again).

Fred w/Wesley, Gunn, Angel, Spike, or Knox?
None of them. I thought Fred/Willow had possibilities during Willow's visit last season, though.

Xander w/Willow, Anya, Cordelia or Inca Mummy Girl?
Cordelia. She gave as good as she got, and during the time it lasted, theirs was my favourite canon relationship. If Cordy hadn't a) been beatified, b) been Jasmine-ed and c) died, I would have been quite happy reading fanfiction in which they meet again after both shows had ended and found each other as adults.

Willow w/Xander, Oz, Tara or Kennedy?
None of the above. See: Fred. Why? Because it would have been a relationship of equals, with the other party not adoring Willow.

Some questions about Buffy.

What is your favorite overall episode?
I really can't pick just one. It's hard enough to pick one from each season, and also, it depends on the mood I'm in. The experimentals, like Hush, OMWF or The Body are certainly there, as are the epic finales like Becoming, The Gift or Chosen. But then again, sometimes I feel like going for comedy and am in a Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered or Life Serial mood. If I have to pick one, only one, which unites layers, comedy and darkness, though, it would be...Restless. Yes, I'll go with Restless.

What episode did you cry the most in?
Forever. Buffy and Dawn post-Joyce just guts me every time.

What episode do you wish you could erase?
Can't think of one. Even the ones in the least favourite category, like Bad Eggs, Beer Bad, Showtime, or As You Were, still have scenes I wouldn't have wanted to miss.

Who is your favorite character?
Buffy.

Who is your least favorite character?
Of those we're supposed to like? (I assume villains would be another category, going from "am bored by" to "love to hate" to "just plain love".) Either Riley or Willow. Riley not for 'shipping reasons, and I never disliked him; there were periods where I sympathized. I just didn't find him as interesting as the rest of the bunch. Willow I was pretty much indifferent to when everyone adored her (i.e. between seasons 1-3) and came to find interesting in later seasons, but I never had the Willow love, so she'd be a candidate for that position as well.

Some questions about Angel.

What is your favorite overall episode?
Again, only one? Arggh. Hm. Okay. Because it's my darling girl - Darla.

Who is your least favorite character?
Again, in the "we're supposed to like" category: Gunn.

What episode were you most surprised by?
Reunion, ending as it did with Angel leaving 20-odd humans for Darla and Drusilla to kill.

If Angel and Spike had a rematch, would Spike still win?
Didn't Smile Time settle that one?*g*

Bad Kissingen yesterday

I read that quickly as Bad Kissinger which amused me rather.

Nah, Spike was laughing too much to fight properly. Besides Puppet!Angel was so much more effective than Real!Angel *g*.
