One of the great things about memes is that they can be inspiring. What I still regard as my best DS9 ensemble story came out of a meme. And now I have to say, someone absolutely needs to write this Rome story. It's like a crack in time and space that it doesn't exist already, I swear!

Also, clearly I need to do the meme in question myself. So here it is, borrowed from likeadeuce:

Well, Odo already had an accidental baby fic in canon (the little Changeling who in the end dies and thus returns to Odo his Changeling nature in s5), so it would have to be different.

Hm... Natima Lang comes back during the Occupation arc, highly pregnant (by unknown third party, doesn't matter who), and leaves the baby with Quark before taking off to the underground again, because as a dissident/resistance fighter she can't simultanously care for a baby, and she actually trusts Quark the most of all the non-dissidents in her life. Because it's Natima's kid, Quark can't simply palm the responsibility off to the next Dabo girl. (He tries to send the baby to Rom's wife Leeta on Bajor until someone reminds him that a Cardassian baby on Bajor during a second occupation IS REALLY NOT A GOOD IDEA.) Since Odo's Changeling status means he's the one person on the station everyone (Cardassians, Vortas, Jem'hadar) but the Female Founder will leave unmolested, a desperate Quark decides to move into Odo's quarters with the baby. Odo is indignant but for once can't fault Quark's reasoning. Besides, the baby clearly needs a better role model than Quark on his own.

This is hard for Lucrezia, because for her, being in Cesare's body has all the benefits. Lucrezia-as-Cesare is all on board with being a Cardinal with an eye to the papacy in the future, and doesn't have to worry about getting married for family gain again, either. It's the perfect solution...

...except for Cesare. Who doesn't look exactly miserable at first about being in Lucrezia's body (actually, Lucrezia tries not to think of what that early blissful expression on "her" face means), but can't handle skirts very well, is v.v. frustrated when finding out unescorted strolls through the city with Micheletto are out of the question in this body, let alone travels away from Rome, and as for meeting potential suitors, it's a minor wonder there are any allies for Rodrigo left after the first two incidents.

So Lucrezia, in the end, decides to find someone to break Savonarola's curse and restore herself and Cesare to their original bodies again.

The problem with the Borgias (and friends, err, allies) playing Truth or Dare is that: a) Juan would immediately pick Dare both because of his self image and because he's not into truth telling, and because the others aren't stupid, they'd dare him to shut up and be quiet for the rest of the evening; b) Cesare would go for "Dare" all the time as well because he'd never give someone (other than Lucrezia, and she's not the only person present) the opportunity to gain knowledge of him that could be used against him later; c) Rodrigo would not play at all with his children present to begin with, though he would if it were only him, Vannozza and Giulia; d) Lucrezia, during much of the first season would and in the second season wouldn't unless her father were participating (because she'd want him to admit to Juan's, err, flaws, to put it mildly, and, see above.

I could see a scenario where Lucrezia, Giulia and Vannozza play during their Triad of Awesome period, mind. Each of them would go for a mixture of truths and dares, and there would be some uncomfortable moments when each of them finds out something they'd rather not have known, but generally it would be great sparring fun.
