You know, last season I thought it was unfair that the Dana plot line with the VP's son was so hated, because I thought it was interesting, but so far her love interest this season isn't doing anything for me thematically or interest wise. However, the scene between Jessica and Dana it led to was really great (and made it clear how serious Dana's attempt to kill herself had been), so I suppose it wasn't all wasted screentime. Dana finding Brody's prayer carpet in the garage also lead to a powerful scene, in silence. (BTW I wonder if she'll figure out what this could mean - i.e. that he hadn't intended to leave - but probably not, since his confession tape which he made for the original blowing up assumes he'll be dead once its played, in which case he wouldn't have needed to take Qu'ran or carpet with him, either.)

(Still no Mike, or a verbal explanation for his absence. If we're to assume he broke his promise to look after the family, I'd like some on screen acknowledgment, please.)

Meanwhile, things go from bad to worse for Carrie as she gets institutionalized after attempting to talk to the media, and pumped with meds against her will. (I was reminded of one of the most visceral passages in the book of Ivan Vaughan about his illness, "Ivan - Living with Parkinson's Disease", in which he talks about his sister being bi polar and refusing her meds, the neigbhours complaining about her resulting behaviour, and the trial at which he felt like a horrible traitor (and hypocrite because at that point he was also refusing medication for his own disease) since he, too, was for her having to take medication. ) How she'll get out of this one, I have no idea.

Peter Quinn: I suppose I'll have to let go of my irrational dislike of you which is partly due to your namesake on Dexter whom I couldn't stand from the get go. You, however, so far have been written and played as interestingly, I admit it.

New character Farah: so far, I really like her and really I hope she'll keep the scarf on; not that Saul's outburst at that point of his life and in these circumstances was ooc, but I don't want Farah to try to buy his sympathy by giving up on her own choices. So far, she seems to win respect by competence instead, which is good. And a sympathetic practicing Muslima as a character is a good thing for the show to have.

Yes, I hope Farah has a good plot, since one thing in the last season that approached racist Republican fantasy was the apparently-westernised Lebanese female journalist turning out to be a secret terrorist.
