The Alsace, or Elsass, is certainly one of the most beautiful parts of France, very easy to reach from Germany (you just cross the Rhine, which doesn't form much of the border nowadays, but just there it does), and the quaint old towns and vineyards await. I crossed the border and was swept away, photographically speaking.
